James F. Witt, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on September 1, 2025, in St. Charles, MO, at the age of 94. Born on April 11, 1931, in Alton, IL, he dedicated a remarkable 30 years of his professional life as an executive at IBM, where he was known for his leadership and commitment to excellence.
James served honorably in the United States Navy, embodying the values of discipline and service that defined his character throughout life. He was a man of many passions; he loved to rebuild and restore 1955 Thunderbirds and found joy in building and flying model airplanes. Known for his strength combined with a tender heart, James was remembered fondly by all who knew him as one of the most kind and gentle souls.
He cherished the companionship of his beloved dogs, Mickey, Penny, and Libby, who filled his life with joy and affection. His gentle spirit and genuine kindness left a lasting impression on everyone around him.
James is survived by his wife, Twyla Witt; granddaughter, Mallory Layendecker; sisters, Rosemary Murphy and JoAnn Beck; son-in-law, Arnold Flippin; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members and friends who will remember him with love and admiration.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lori Flippin; father, Harry Witt; mother, Elizabeth Witt; and brothers-in-law, Jim Murphy and Donald Beck.
A visitation will be held on September 12, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Newcomer Funeral Home in St. Peters, MO. Following the visitation, a memorial service will take place at 11:00 am.
