Jamie Lynn Grimes

Jamie Lynn (Wagner) Grimes, a resident of St. Peters, MO, passed away peacefully at Evelyn’s House on August 1st, 2026 after a long battle with breast cancer at the age of 43. Jamie became permanently cancer free as she entered into the arms of Jesus in heaven.

Jamie was born on March 23, 1983 in Saint Charles, MO to Craig and Donna (Marshall) Wagner. She was raised with her brother Michael in Malden, MO until 1992. She then relocated to Saint Charles County and lived with her father, sister, and grandmother until 2001. Jamie attended Francis Howell Central, participated in the Art Club, and graduated in 2002. Jamie worked at Walmart outside of school as a cashier.

Jamie attended Hickey College in Saint Louis, MO acquiring an Associates Degree in Graphic Design and further studies in Business Management. During this time Jamie also worked at Bridgeway Counseling and Community Living – taking care of infants and disabled elderly. After obtaining her degree, Jamie worked as a Graphic Designer for Community News in O’Fallon, MO.

Jamie met the love of her life - Steve Grimes - in Driver’s Ed during sophomore year of high school and they proceeded to date during their college years. While in college, Jamie became a Christian. Converting from Jehovah’s Witness in 2002, Jamie became a confirmed Lutheran in 2003 and began attending Zion Lutheran Church with Steve. Steve proposed to Jamie in July of 2005 via hiding a ring inside of a double decker box of chocolates – and they were married May 20, 2006, at Zion Lutheran Church in Saint Charles.

After marrying, Steve and Jamie immediately relocated to Cottage Grove, MN with Steve taking an engineering position at Archer Daniels Midland in Red Wing, MN. Jamie worked at Fedex/Kinkos and later at Payless Shoes in Woodbury, MN. In 2007, Jamie and Steve relocated back to Saint Charles, MO and Jamie gave birth to her daughter Allyson Renee in 2011. Jamie stayed at home full time with Allyson – teaching her to read and spending their days together on play dates, learning, exploring outside, and doing crafts. Allyson grew to be a gymnast, cheerleader, honors student, and an excellent baker at home – helping her Mom prepare for many Thanksgivings together.

Jamie and Steve later had two sons – Nicholas Alexander in 2013 and Scott Timothy in 2015 – both of whom Jamie also stayed at home to raise and teach. Jamie homeschooled all three kids at various times – but especially Scott whom she taught 1st and 2nd grade both to in a span of only 18 months. This took Scotty from a struggling reader to now a member of his school’s gifted program. Nicholas grew to be an excellent landscaper, black belt in Kuk Sool Won, and an extremely handy and hard working young teenager. Scott has excelled at both fixing and building a great many things – especially anything involving hot glue.

While raising her kids, Jamie continued to attend Zion Lutheran and assisted various ministries there with her graphic design skills. She also supported her husband’s real estate and ticket brokering businesses – working directly on both at various times – with both growing over time to entirely support their family. For many years Jamie made sure to make their home welcoming and very festive. Decorating for each holiday season and including seasonal activities for the kids including pumpkin patches, making Christmas cookies, gingerbread houses, holiday craft projects, and much more.

In August 2019, Jamie was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 36. By 2021 the cancer had progressed to Stage 4 and proved resistant to many chemotherapies and treatments.

Despite actively having cancer, Jamie persisted in homeschooling and raising up her kids. She also committed to her health – walking with her husband 3-4 miles daily and sometimes 8 miles in one day. Jamie traveled extensively with her family during this period with visits to Canada, Mt.Rainier, Yellowstone, Colorado, & Alaska and even a solo trip to Spain to visit her sister-in-law Lauren. Jamie and Steve collaborated to remodel much of their home with Jamie providing the vision and style details for a new kitchen, fireplace surround, and stairway.

Jamie is survived by her loving husband, Steve; daughter, Allyson; sons, Nick & Scott; mother, Donna Marshall; brothers, Michael Kean & Nathan Wagner; sister, Ginnie Wagner; grandparents, Joseph & Norma Marshall; as well as numerous extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her father, Craig Wagner, and grandparents, James & Carmeleda Wagner.

Jamie will be remembered for her strong faith in Jesus Christ, her kindness, her commitment to her family, her resilience, and her great love for her children. Her legacy will live on through the children she raised.

A visitation will take place on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 beginning at 4:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home in St Peters, MO. A funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at Zion Lutheran Church, Saint Charles, MO. Jamie will laid to rest at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Saint Charles, MO, immediately following the funeral service. After the graveside service concludes, the family would like to invite you to a luncheon at Zion Lutheran to join in fellowship and remembrance of Jamie.

Attendants may wear something teal in their attire if they wish to celebrate Jamie's life. It was her favorite color and she welcomed its use in any funeral garments.
