Janet Irene Mudd, born on July 1, 1931, in Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025, in Chesterfield, Missouri, surrounded by her beloved family. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and devotion that will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Janet was a proud graduate of Soldan High School, a testament to her spirit of perseverance and dedication. Throughout her life, she embodied the qualities of faithfulness, honor, and dignity. Janet was a true lady, with a strong character that inspired those around her. Her warmth and loving nature made her a devoted friend and confidant, particularly to those in need or facing difficult times. A heart for the less fortunate defined her approach to life and her interactions with others.
As a devoted mother, Janet is survived by her daughter, Virginia Kennedy, and her sons, Stephen (Janice) Mudd, Gregory (Charlene) Mudd, and David (Rosalyn) Mudd. Her grandchildren, Christine and Danielle Kennedy, along with Evan (Kathryn) Mudd, Christian (Christina) Mudd, and Nadine Mudd will carry forward her love as will her step-grandson, James Hanks, and great-grandchildren, Jack Leach, Joshua Mudd, David Mudd, Caleb Mudd, Naomi Mudd, and Liam Mudd. Each of them was a cherished part of her life, and she took great pride in the accomplishments of her family.
Janet’s interests were as vibrant as her personality. An avid golfer, she enjoyed the camaraderie of the game, often taking time to hit the green and socialize with friends. She also had a passion for playing bridge and delightfully engaging in stitch-n-bitch gatherings, where laughter flowed as freely as friendship. Reading was another cherished pastime, allowing her to explore new worlds through literature.
She will be remembered not just for her hobbies but for her indomitable spirit, which was evident in every social occasion she attended. Janet made those around her feel valued and special, leaving an indelible mark on her community.
