Janice Pigg passed away on August 25, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on January 12, 1944, she lived a life marked by warmth, generosity, faith, and deep devotion to The Lord and the people around her.
Janice attended Lafyette High School and continued her education at University of Kentucky. She was known for her lively and welcoming spirit, and those who knew her will remember that she never met a stranger. Effervescent by nature, she loved to laugh and had a gift for making others feel at ease. Her faith was a guiding force throughout her life. She reached out to others with sincerity and compassion, often inviting them to church and helping lead many lives to Christ. Her legacy was lasting, and she also played an important role in encouraging many men to enter the ministry.
She brought that same energy and care into the everyday moments of life. Janice was known as the original extreme couponer, with a true talent for refunds and rebates. She loved sewing, and she loved to cook, always preparing meals in abundance. These simple but meaningful parts of her life reflected her generous heart and her enjoyment of caring for others.
Above all, Janice treasured her family. She is survived by her children, Kevin and Jill Pigg, Keith and Heather Pigg, and Karrie and Dan Atchison. Her love extended to her eight grandchildren, Joshua and Morgan Pigg, Jonathan and Cassandra Pigg, Obsidian Atchison, Jewel Atchison, Danielle Atchison, Christina Atchison, Jack Pigg, and Lilian Pigg. She is also survived by her sisters, Brenda Clapp and Renee Metts, as well as a host of other family members and friends who were blessed by her life and friendship.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Galen Pigg; mother, Marie Jewel Metts; and her father, Jack Metts.
