It is with profound sorrow and heartfelt reverence that we announce the passing of Jaqueline Schaper, known affectionately to those who loved her as Jacqui, who departed this life peacefully on the 27th of April, 2026, in her beloved home nestled in the tranquil countryside of Augusta, Missouri. Born on June 9th, 1951, in Manchester, England, Jacqui embodied the dignified grace and refined charm of an English lady, traits that she carried throughout her life with unwavering elegance.
Jacqui's journey through life was marked by dedication, love, and an unyielding commitment to the family she cherished above all else. She embarked on her professional path as a talented hairstylist, a career where her warmth and personable nature flourished. Later, alongside her devoted husband Eugene "Gene" Schaper, she transformed their shared dream into reality by co-owning a Bed and Breakfast, a testament to their joint vision and relentless hard work. This haven was not merely a place of business but a sanctuary of peace and beauty, reflective of Jacqui’s deep appreciation for the countryside’s serenity—so much so that it was her heartfelt wish to spend her final moments enveloped by the calm and tranquility of their home.
Jacqui was a woman of remarkable character—funny and loving, yet impeccably proper, forever maintaining appearances with an English grace that endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her beloved English accent was a melodic signature that captivated friends and visitors, who often found themselves drawn to hear her speak. She embraced life with joyful enthusiasm, relishing simple pleasures such as shopping, savoring fine wines at local wineries, traveling with Gene, engaging in heartfelt conversations with her daughters, and tending to her garden with a keen affection for nature’s gifts. Her culinary skills, matched by her health-conscious approach, reflected a love for nurturing both body and soul.
At the heart of Jacqui’s proudest accomplishments lay the enduring marriage to Gene, spanning 26 treasured years, and the loving family they built together. She took immense pride in her daughters, Elisa (Don) Coble and Sarah Oswald, whose lives she guided and enriched with steadfast devotion. Her joy extended to her beloved grandchildren—Mason Walton, Evan Johnson, and Madisyn Johnson—who were a continual source of happiness and pride. Jacqui’s family was further blessed by the presence of her sister, Susan "Sue" Taylor, who shares with us the irreplaceable loss of a sister whose love was boundless. In addition to her family, Jacqui was surrounded by many devoted friends, all of whom she loved and cherished.
Those who preceded Jacqui in death, her cherished parents, John "Jack" and Freda Taylor, no doubt welcomed her with open arms, reunited once more in eternal peace. Yet, the legacy Jacqui leaves behind is vibrant and enduring—a life suffused with love, integrity, and unwavering devotion.
As we bid farewell to Jacqui Schaper, let us hold dear the memories of a woman who enriched every life she touched with laughter, gentility, and unabating love. May her spirit rest peacefully in the beauty she so deeply treasured, forever embraced by the family she adored.
