Jean Schmitt, born on January 20, 1927, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Jean's life was enriched by her passions, particularly her deep appreciation for roses and swimming. She took great joy in watching and listening to her family members play music, often gathering to bask in the melodies created by her loved ones. Her enthusiasm for spending time with friends, her sister, and family was a cornerstone of her happiness. Jean particularly relished the moments spent watching her grandchildren play baseball, celebrating their achievements with boundless pride.
Jean is survived by her son, Kurt (Karen) Schmitt; her daughter, Karla (Mitch) Thomas; and eight cherished grandchildren, Mitch Thomas, Jr., Bobby Harris, Jimmy Harris, Lee Robertson, Luke Robertson, Christopher Rankin, Jennifer Kujawa, Matthew Rankin, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. Each of them holds a special place in her heart, as their lives intertwined with her own in a tapestry of love and connection.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Conrad Schmitt; their son, Danny Schmitt; their daughter, Donna Robertson; mother, Alice Mahoney; her father, Guy Clifford Mahoney; and her sister, Joyce Howell-Bryan. Jean's presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A visitation to honor Jean will take place on February 8, 2026, from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home in St. Peters, Missouri, followed by a funeral service from 12:30 PM at the same location. Her family invites all who knew Jean to join them in celebrating her remarkable life and the impact she made on those around her.
