Jim Mobley, a beloved father, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on May 30, 2025, at the age of 85. He was born on June 24, 1939, and his life was marked by a deep commitment to family, friends, and a plethora of interests that brought joy to those around him.
Jim was known for his love of boating, often taking to the water with friends and family to enjoy the fun and adventure the river provided. Family events were especially dear to him, and he cherished the moments spent in the company of his loved ones, fostering connections that would last a lifetime. In addition to his warm-hearted nature, Jim was quite the handyman. He took great pleasure in helping others with their home projects, always ready to lend a hand and share his skills.
He is survived by his brother, Michael Mobley (Wilma); sister, Elaine Shirley (Scott); son, Jim Coffey (Jennefer); and a legacy that includes two grandchildren, Erica (Sean) Larkin and Sarah (Sam) Liggett, as well as two great-grandchildren, Audrey Larkin and Ethan Larkin. His familial ties extend to three nephews—Michael Mobley (Tracy), Steven Mobley (Debbie), Charles Mobley (Michelle)—and five nieces—Julia Konys (John), Cindy Willis (Bobby), Laura Woodruff (Wes), Lisa Dalrymple (Josh), Angela Strider (Jeff). Jim also enjoyed spending time with his special friend Doris Sampson and her family. He will be remembered fondly not just by these family members, but by a host of other relatives and friends who were touched by his good nature.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Rolla Mobley, and his mother, Marie Mobley, both of whom he held in deep regard. He will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
