Joan Marie Andrzejewski, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on June 6, 2026, in O'Fallon, Missouri. Born on August 2, 1943, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and grew up in the St. Louis area where she attended St. Mark's High School. Joan was married to her loving husband John J. Andrzejewski on September 4, 1965. They resided together with their sons in Hazelwood, Missouri for many years, before settling in O'Fallon, Missouri.
Joan's life was a testament to love, devotion, and generosity. Her deep religious faith was a cornerstone of her being—cultivating a serenity and strength that could be felt by all who knew her. Her devout nature was beautifully intertwined with a warm, nonjudgmental, and accepting spirit that made everyone welcome in her presence. She never raised her voice; instead, she offered calm reassurance and unconditional love.
Her professional journey reflected her dedicated nature—spending many years in real estate, Joan proudly represented both Coldwell Banker and Gundaker Realty, where her integrity and kindness left a lasting impression on colleagues and clients alike. However, Joan’s proudest accomplishment was without question her family, a testament illuminated by countless loving years spent nurturing bonds that would span generations.
Joan was a woman of many talents and passions. She was a wonderful cook, celebrated especially for her exceptional pies that became a favorite at every family gathering. Her sons each kept a statue of St. Joseph in their homes, a symbol of the faith and care she imparted deeply within them. Family meals were more than just sustenance—they were sacred moments of connection, laughter, and tradition.
She cherished playing tennis, a lifelong sport that brought her joy and vigor, and she found equal pleasure in board games and card games with family and friends. Joan loved to fill her home with laughter by having the whole family over, a space where memories were woven with each shared moment. Time spent with her grandchildren—John, Ashley, Zachary, Michael, Sydney, Jackson, Riley, Mia, Matthew, Lauren—and her beloved great-grandchildren—Holly, Hayden, and Cale—was treasured above all.
Joan’s warm and generous heart was always ready to help. She would drop everything to support those she loved, embodying the true meaning of selflessness and care. She maintained an especially close bond with her brothers and sisters, holding family ties near and dear to her heart.
She is survived by her devoted sons John (Karen), David, and Daniel (Amy) Andrzejewski; her cherished grandchildren; and great-grandchildren who brought light and joy to her later years. Joan also leaves behind her siblings Mary Judith (the late Carl) Almstedt, George (Sharon) Heckel, Vicky (Robert) Egan, William (Mary Ellen) Heckel, and Donald (Debbie) Heckel, who all shared a special closeness with her.
Joan joins in Heaven her beloved husband of 60 years, John J. Andrzejewski, her parents Edward and Delores Heckel, her sister Carol (Ernie) Conry, and her brother James Heckel, who is survived by his wife Lisbeth. Their memories live on in the hearts of all who loved them.
As we say goodbye to Joan Marie Andrzejewski, we remember her as a beacon of love, faith, and kindness—a woman whose life was defined by her devotion to family and the joy she brought to those privileged to know her. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all she touched, a gentle reminder of the power of love and the grace of a life well-lived.
