Joey H. Spain, born on May 28, 1993, in St. Charles, Missouri, passed away on April 16, 2026, in his beloved hometown of St. Charles. Joey’s journey through life, though too short, was marked by a bright spirit and a boundless capacity to love and be loved, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege to know him.
From the very beginning, Joey’s presence was a gift to his family and community. Growing up in St. Charles, he was surrounded by those who cherished him deeply: his twin brother Alex Spain, his sister Madison Spain, and brothers Lucas Spain and D.J. Lambert. His loving sister Erika (Michael) Keen and brother Zack Mckinley were also pillars of strength and closeness in his life. Family was at the heart of everything Joey did, and his special bond extended to his childhood friends and treasured best friend whom he considered a brother, Alex Laurent.
Joey was embraced by a loving and supportive network: his mother Angela Spain Winkler; his father, Donald Spain Jr., affectionately known as Pops; and Felicia Spain, his bonus mom, each providing love that shaped him into the remarkable man he became. Stephanie Spencer, his devoted partner, stood faithfully by his side, as they shared the joy of raising his son Euryah together. Joey’s extended family included bonus children Shelby, Fin Fin, and Nathan (Bubba), who enriched his life with laughter and companionship.
His family roots ran deep, nurtured by the warmth and care of grandparents Richard and Talley Tiesing, Bonnie Fann, and Dan and Sandy Winkler. They, alongside a cherished village of aunts, uncles, and friends, created a loving circle around Joey—a testament to how deeply he was loved and how wide his reach was.
Joey’s life was also touched by those departed before him: Donald Spain Sr., his grandpa; Bob Fann, grandpa; Dorothy Thompson, great grandma; and uncles Jimmy Dryer and Bobby Fann. Their memories remain a treasured part of his story, bringing comfort and a sense of continuity amid the pain of loss.
Those who knew Joey remember him for his generous heart, his infectious smile, and the sincere way he connected with people. His nephews Michael and Ian held a special place in his heart, as did his cousin Sabrina Sweda. Each relationship added color and depth to his life, reflecting the high value he placed on family and friendship.
