John Joseph Andrzejewski, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on June 6, 2026, in O'Fallon, Missouri. Born on September 12, 1939, in St. Louis, Missouri, John grew up in the Walnut Park neighborhood, where the roots of his character—steadfast, caring, and quietly humorous—took hold. John was married to his loving wife Joan M. Andrzejewski (nee Heckel) on September 4, 1965. They resided together with their sons in Hazelwood, Missouri for many years, before settling in O'Fallon, Missouri.
A proud St. Louis native, John pursued higher education with determination and passion. He earned his undergraduate degree from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE), and furthered his studies with a Master’s degree from Washington University. He honorably served his country in the United States Army National Guard from 1961 to 1967, a testament to his sense of duty and patriotism. John spent most of his professional career working at McDonnell Douglas, EDS and Unigraphics Solutions.
John was a man whose life was marked by devotion, generosity, and a profound love for family and country. He was a man of many dimensions, each one revealing a heart full of kindness and a spirit rich with life. Those who knew him well remember a man who gave freely of his time and love, especially to his sons and their friends. His dry sense of humor and loving nature made him a cherished presence, one that brought warmth and laughter to every gathering.
The great outdoors was John’s sanctuary. He relished hunting and fishing, activities that not only brought him joy but also created lasting memories with family and friends. Poker games and fishing trips were treasured traditions, moments where friendships deepened and stories were shared under the open sky. Above all, John’s love for his grandchildren was boundless. He adored spending time with them, nurturing bonds that spanned generations and filled his heart with immense pride and joy.
John’s family was the center of his world. He is survived by his beloved sons, John (Karen) Andrzejewski, David Andrzejewski, and Daniel (Amy) Andrzejewski. His legacy continues through his many grandchildren: John (Melissa), Ashley (Sterling), Zachary, Michael, Sydney, Jackson, Riley, Mia, Matthew, and Lauren, and even extends to his great-grandchildren, Holly, Hayden, and Cale. John’s sisters, Mary Ann (the late William) Melton and Rosalie (Robert) Sullivan, remain as living testaments to the close-knit family that meant so much to him.
John joins in Heaven his beloved wife of 60 years, Joan M. Andrzejewski (nee Heckel), and his parents, John Andrzejewski and Ann Andrzejewski (nee Chytla). Their memories live on in the hearts of all who loved them.
As we mourn the loss of John Joseph Andrzejewski, we honor a man whose life was a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and unyielding generosity. He taught us to cherish family, to find joy in simple pleasures, and to face life with quiet humor and unwavering kindness. His legacy is not only in the lives he touched but in the enduring spirit of love and warmth he leaves behind. John will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
