John Albert Ehrengart Jr.

John Albert Ehrengart Jr., a dedicated public servant, passed away on May 28, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on January 17, 1949, in St. Louis, Missouri, John’s life was marked by both professional achievement and deep personal connections.

A valued member of the St. Louis City Police Department, John began his career as a Cadet and rose through the ranks to retire as a Sergeant. His commitment to duty was evident, further demonstrated by his role as an instructor at the Police Academy Range. Over his distinguished career, he received numerous awards that recognized his steadfast dedication to public safety and service.

John's strong-willed personality was known to all who crossed his path. He had a keen appreciation for the finer things in life and took pride in being well-informed about current events. A proud yet private man, he found joy in peace and serenity.

In his leisure time, John pursued his love for aviation by watching and flying airplanes, and he found great pleasure in playing and watching golf. In his younger years, he embraced the spirit of celebration, often hosting gatherings where he entertained and cooked for loved ones. John enjoyed long vacations and boating excursions with his family and friends. As a grandfather, he created memories with his grandchildren, taking them on hay rides and sharing playful horsey rides. He enjoyed the tranquility of his property, often spending leisurely hours observing the view and the wildlife around him.

John is survived by his loving wife, Karen Ehrengart; daughters Sue (Matt) Connor and Lisa (Tim) Baker; and grandchildren Jessica (Ryan) Szepanski, Rebecca (Andrew) Dolph, and Erica (Ben) Baker. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Jane, Marley, and Sullivan. John will be dearly missed by his family and the community he served with honor.

He was preceded in death by his father, Al Ehrengart Sr.; mother, Evelyn Ehrengart; and his grandparents, Bill and Marie Ahrenkiel. John's legacy of service and love will always be remembered.
