John Eric Groseth, a cherished father, husband, grandfather, and friend, passed away on June 24, 2025, in St. Louis, Missouri, at the age of 72. Born on June 8, 1953, in Hawthorne, California, John led a life marked by love, laughter, and dedication to his family and career.

For more than 40 years, John worked tirelessly as an NC Engineer in aerospace, contributing to significant projects, including collaborations with the United States Military and the Space Shuttle program. His commitment to his profession was matched only by the passion he had for his loved ones and the bonds he built throughout his life.

John had a personality that shone brightly; he was the best man anyone could hope to know. His excellent sense of humor and loving nature endeared him to all who crossed his path. With a playful spirit, he often teased everyone around him, making them feel like family. He was there for others—a beacon of support, ensuring they knew he deeply cared about their lives. The memories he created with those he loved will forever remain etched in their hearts.

John’s proudest accomplishments included his 38-year marriage to his beloved wife, Barbara Groseth. Together, they created a beautiful family, including their daughter Ashley Herbst, who filled their lives with joy, along with their cherished grandchildren, Colson, Liam, and Addison. His grandchildren were a source of boundless happiness for him; he loved spending time outdoors with them, engaging in hunting trips, and joyfully participating in Cub Scouts activities. Their laughter and smiles lifted his spirits and brought profound meaning to his life.

John also served honorably in the United States Army as a Sergeant, a role he carried with pride and dignity. His spirit of service extended beyond his military commitments and seeped into every aspect of his life, as he continually sought to uplift those around him.

John is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara; his daughter, Ashley; his grandchildren, Colson, Liam, and Addison; and his three sisters, who will forever hold his memory in their hearts. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eric and Maxine Groseth.

As we bid farewell to John, let us remember the legacy of love, laughter, and generosity that he imparted to our lives. His funeral services will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, St. Peters, with visitations on July 2 and 3, leading up to the funeral service on July 3. He will be laid to rest at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, where his contributions to our freedom will continue to resonate.

John leaves behind a deep imprint on the lives he touched, and although he has departed from this world, his spirit will forever be alive in the hearts of many. He will be dearly missed, but his legacy of caring, compassion, and camaraderie will be celebrated in the stories we share about him.
