John Stafford O'Neill, age 88, of Wentzville, Missouri passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2026 in O'Fallon, Missouri. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 4, 1937 to Stafford and Sandra O'Neill (nee Samways).
A seminary-educated Catholic layman with a degree in Aristotelian-Thomistic philosophy and a year of post-graduate theology at Catholic University of America, John O'Neill has served as an instructor and facilitator in parish catechetical and renewal programs, teaching Catholic and non-Catholic Christians truths about the mysteries of God and the teachings of the Catholic Faith.
Prior to his retirement, John spent forty-plus years in advertising and magazine publishing management. His writing experience includes advertising copywriting, article writing for business-to-business trade magazines and online newsletters, a specialty market consumer magazine, and three blogs. Jesus' Six Keys to a More Perfect You was John's first eBook on Amazon Kindl. He also went on to write A Sign Contradicted and There Are No Molecules in God.
John is survived by his wife, Mary Ann O'Neill (nee DeCola); two daughters, Erin (Jeff) Girsch, Meghan (Jeremy Whitis) O'Neill; son, Patrick O'Neill; four grandchildren, Jamee Girsch, Jill Girsch, Henry Whitis, Bert Whitis; and a host of other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his Father, Stafford J. O'Neill; Mother, Sandra O'Neill; Sister, Sheila O'Neill.
