Joseph D. Bryan Jr., a distinguished Material Handling Mechanical Engineer and devoted family man, passed away on June 12, 2026. Born on December 19, 1950, in Philadelphia, PA, Joe was a man of keen intellect, unwavering conviction, and deep compassion.
Joe’s professional career was marked by notable achievements and contributions to the engineering field. He held several patents with Boeing and Alvey Conveyors, showcasing his innovative spirit and technical expertise. Throughout his career, he designed multiple distribution centers for prominent companies including Target, Anheuser-Busch, Nestle, Nabisco, and Coors. His work left an enduring impact on the industry, reflecting a legacy of excellence and ingenuity.
Beyond his technical accomplishments, Joe was a lifelong student who continuously sought to expand his knowledge. His intellectual prowess was recognized by his membership in MENSA, a testament to his exceptional intelligence. Those who knew Joe admired his logical approach to problem-solving, his strength of conviction, and a quietly compassionate nature that reflected a man who cared deeply about others.
In his personal life, Joe found joy in riding his Spyder Motorcycle alongside friends and cherished time spent with his Bible study group. After retiring, he embraced his creative side, dedicating many hours to building and crafting projects at home. His generosity extended into community service as he worked part-time supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, demonstrating his commitment to helping those in need.
Joe spent 57 years alongside his adored wife, Donna - whom he shared 54 (almost 55 on July 3rd) wonderful years of marriage.
Joe was most proud of his family, whom he loved dearly and cherished above all else. He is survived by his wife, Donna Bryan; daughter, Stacey (David) Elliott; and son, Joseph (Ashley) Bryan. His legacy lives on through his five grandchildren: Sylvia Buso, Audrey Buso, Ryder Bryan, Joseph Bryan, and River Bryan, along with his step-granddaughter, Lyndsay Elliott; he is also expecting his new great-grandchild that is due in August, Leandro Luz; step-great-grandchildren, Addie and Rhys Elliott. He is also survived by his sister, Linda (Jim) Campbell, and six brothers: Glenn (Suzanna), Steve (Donna), Dennis (Sandra), Gary (Lorainne), Jeff (Karen), and Coley (Heidi) Bryan. Joe’s beloved canine companion, Sassy, remained a treasured presence in his life. Additionally, he leaves behind a wide circle of family members and friends who will remember him fondly.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Douglas Bryan, Sr., and Irene Louise Bryan.
A visitation will be held on June 28, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home in St. Peters, Missouri. This will be followed by a memorial service from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the same location, where friends and family will gather to honor Joe’s memory and celebrate his impactful life.
