Joseph Dellon Hough

Joseph Dellon Hough, of St. Peters, Missouri, passed away on August 25, 2026, at the age of 43. He was the beloved husband of Carrie; devoted daddy to Ayla and Austin; cherished son of Patrick and Diana Hough; loving brother to Danny Hough and Sarah (Jon) Schreiber; brother‑in‑law to Curt (Mary) Campbell; and treasured uncle to Allison, Elliot, Everett, James, and Theodore. He was also a loved nephew, grandson, and friend to many.

Joe graduated from Ft. Zumwalt South High School in 2001 and later earned a Master’s Degree in Economics. He shared his passion for learning as a college professor for more than ten years, where he was admired by both students and colleagues.

A true outdoorsman, Joe found joy in every corner of nature. He canoed the entire Current River, hiked Mt. Denali, and took a solo journey through the Badlands, Yellowstone, Mt. Rushmore, and countless other places. He felt most alive while camping, canoeing, or hiking, anything that allowed him to be outdoors.

Joe also loved traveling with his family and friends, whether it was a trip to the beach, the mountains, or the river.

He was soft‑spoken, intelligent, and deeply loving. Joe was someone you could always lean on whether for advice, for help, or for a laugh. His infectious smile put people at ease, and his gentle presence made every room feel lighter.

Music was one of Joe’s greatest passions. A gifted musician, he poured his heart into every song he played and every performance he gave. His love of music led him to help form the band Wooden Cars, and it was at one of their shows that Carrie first saw him. The following weekend, they joined friends on a camping trip, where their beautiful love story truly began.

Together, Joe and Carrie built a life filled with joy, shared dreams, and two wonderful children, Ayla and Austin. Last summer, they returned to St. Peters to begin a new chapter of their lives, surrounded by the community and family they loved.

Joe’s legacy is one of kindness, curiosity, adventure, and unwavering love. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

There will be a Visitation at 11:00 am to 2:00 pm on Sunday, August 30 at Newcomer Funeral Home - 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters, MO 63376. A Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 pm.
