Joshua John Ellison, affectionately known as Josh, was born on October 21, 1978, in Honolulu, Hawaii, and was tragically taken from his family on October 30, 2025, in St. Charles, Missouri. Josh leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will forever be held close by those who knew him.

A dedicated Network Engineer, Josh approached his career with an unwavering motivation and commitment. He remained passionately engaged in his work, often putting in long hours. His intelligence and work ethic were surpassed only by his profound love for his family.

Josh was a devoted father, deeply involved in the lives of his beloved children, Mackenzie and Hunter. He took great joy in coaching their teams throughout the years, never missing an opportunity to support them. His nurturing approach left an indelible mark on both Mackenzie and Hunter, who are undoubtedly his proudest accomplishments. He cherished time spent catching for his daughter, Mackenzie, who was a pitcher, during her softball games and passing along his basketball knowledge to his son, Hunter.

With a vibrant personality, Josh was full of life and humor. He was charismatic, known for his dry sense of humor, and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. Friends and family alike recognized him as a gentle giant, a bright light in their lives who would selflessly take the shirt off his back for others. His ability to engage in friendly debates showed his passion for discussion, and his knowledge of sports reflected his love for watching games, especially New York Yankees baseball and University of Illinois basketball.

Josh’s interests extended beyond his career and family. He recently rediscovered his passion for fishing, often sharing those moments with friends and family. He enjoyed reliving childhood memories of trying wrestling moves with his brother, Nate, even into his adulthood, when they weren't trading one-liners while watching shows and movies. He found his home away from home at Hotshots; after working from home for an extended period, his friends there were his lifeline and he loved each and every one of them.

He leaves behind an extensive network of loving family and friends, including his beloved children, Mackenzie Ellison and Hunter Ellison; the mother of his children, Jamie Ellison; his parents, Richard (Jennifer) Ellison and Brenda Gavril, and his brothers Nathan (Carly) Ellison, Brandon (Leasha) Teel, and Christopher (Anna) Teel. Josh was a beloved uncle to his nephews Graysen, Deklen, Knoxten, Landen, William, Charles, and Graeme, and his niece Brynnen Teel. He was also cherished by his parents-in-law Brenda and James Lawrence, sisters-in-law Nancy Haupt and Stacey (Roy) Poteete, and brother-in-law Tracey (Tina) Lawrence. Josh's aunts and uncles, including Ray (Jorie) Bartle, Kendall (Marilyn) Berger, Raymond (Sue) Ellison, Russell (Mechelle) Ellison, Debbie Bartle, and Christine (Larry) Mosley, his great-aunt, Virginia Burton, along with countless friends, will forever hold his memory dear.

Though he must now join his grandparents Marian (Ray) Berger, Remus Bartle, John V. Ellison, and Shirley "JoAnn" Ellison, his stepfather Kim Gavril, his great-grandparents, Samuel Barbee and Irene Barbee, uncle Leonard Berger, aunt Joyce Stratmann, sister-in-law Christy Kestner, and brother-in-law Will Haupt, the love he gave will endure through the hearts of those he touched.

In a bright and loving spirit, Josh will be remembered during a visitation at Newcomer Funeral Home in St. Peters, MO, on November 10 and 11, 2025. A funeral service will follow on November 11, where family and friends will gather to celebrate a life that inspired so many.

The world is a little dimmer without Josh's laughter and generosity, but his spirit will live on in the cherished moments he created with his family and friends. His tremendous love and devotion are woven into the lives of those he leaves behind, reminding us all of the beauty of connection and shared memories.
