Joyce Marie Davis, a cherished wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2026, in St. Louis, Missouri, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on February 16, 1951, in Washington, Missouri, Joyce lived a life marked by remarkable strength, resilience, and unwavering grace.
Joyce’s journey began in the close-knit community of Washington, where she flourished both socially and academically. A proud graduate of Washington Senior High School, class of 1969, Joyce was not only a cheerleader but also a beloved presence among her peers. Her vibrant spirit shone through early, and she was known for her vivacious personality and warm heart. She continued her education at St. Louis Community College at Forest Park, earning an Associate’s degree that fueled her passion for helping others.
A woman of many talents and interests, Joyce was a former beauty queen, proudly taking runner-up at the Washington Missouri Town and Country Fair in her youth. Yet her greatest pride lay in her commitment to service and family. For more than ten years, she dedicated herself as a teacher’s assistant with the Special School District, where her compassion and patience gently shaped the lives of countless children.
Joyce’s hobbies and interests reflected a zest for life and a deep appreciation for nature and companionship. She delighted in bird watching, a pastime that brought her peace and joy, and she cherished time spent with friends and family. Alongside her beloved husband, Myron M. Davis, she enjoyed movies and treasured road trips across the United States. Their adventures, especially to Montana and Utah, held special memories that warmed their hearts. In her younger days, she embraced the freedom of float trips, often finding solace on the water.
Her battle with breast cancer, diagnosed in 2016, was met with extraordinary courage and dignity. Throughout her illness, Joyce remained an independent thinker who stayed true to herself, even when faced with daunting challenges. Her unbelievable strength and grace left an indelible mark on all who knew her, reminding everyone that there was so much more to her than her illness. It was Joyce’s wish that her life be remembered for the fullness of her spirit, not defined by her disease.
She is survived by her loving husband of almost 40 years, Myron M. Davis, and their devoted daughter, Melany Davis. Joyce’s family circle also includes her siblings: James (Debbie) Jasper, Jeffrey (Claudia) Jasper, and Linda Pritchett; and brothers and sisters in-law: Eugene (Vickie) Davis, Elvard (Bonnie) Davis, Lucy Davis, Mary Lee Davis, and Karen Davis, alongside many loving nieces and nephews who treasured her deeply. Joyce is also survived by her dear cats, Sassy and Benji, and was preceded in death by her beloved Samantha.
She joins in eternal rest her father, Leonard Jasper; her mother, Vera (Edward) Jones; her mother and father-in-law, Mary and Elvard Davis; and her brother-in-law, Dr. Marlou Davis.
Friends, family, and all who were touched by Joyce’s kindness and strength will gather to honor her memory. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, West County, located at 2211 Clarkson Road, Chesterfield, Missouri 63017. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the same location. Following her funeral services, Joyce will be laid to rest in Holy Cross Cemetery, Ellisville, Missouri.
Joyce Marie Davis leaves behind a legacy of love, perseverance, and authenticity. Though her journey on earth has ended, the warmth of her spirit and the imprint of her life will continue to inspire and comfort those who were privileged to know her. She will be deeply missed, forever remembered with affection and respect.
