Juan will be remembered as a fun and loving man with a great sense of humor, someone who was always helpful and who brought warmth to the people around him.

Juan Gerardo Gomez, affectionately known as Gera, passed away on September 21, 2026, in Columbia, Missouri. He was born on May 9, 1966, in Zamora, Michoacán, Mexico.

Juan will be remembered as a fun and loving man with a great sense of humor, someone who was always helpful and who brought warmth to the people around him. He built a career in Information Technology, working at Centene Corporation and Bayer (Monsanto). Beyond his work, he filled his life with the simple pleasures and lasting routines that meant so much to him.

He loved going for walks and took great joy in following St. Louis sports, especially the Cardinals, Blues, and City SC. His biggest love was Club América, and he was always eager to find a soccer game to watch. He also treasured time spent dog-sitting his daughter’s dog, Zorro, whether at his own home or while visiting hers in Chicago. For many years, he coached both of his daughters’ CYC sports teams at Good Shepherd, a role that reflected both his devotion to family and his generous spirit. He enjoyed sharing a cold beer with friends at Shortleaf Brewing or Dirty Dogz, and he looked forward to weekend breakfasts at Scrambled Eggs Restaurant, especially Grandma’s Plate with a cup of coffee.

Above all, Juan was a family man whose love will continue to be felt by those closest to him. He is survived by his son, Ricardo Gomez and his wife, Sarah Gomez, née Tidwell; by his daughters, Andrea Gomez and Anissa Gomez; and by his mother, Ofelia Gomez, née Solis. He was a proud grandfather to Sofia Isabel and Juan Leonardo “Leo” Gomez, and Marlon Von Lawson III, and his love for them was a cherished part of his life.

He is also survived by his siblings Lupita Gomez, Angelica Gomez, Ofelia Gomez-Gonzalez and her husband Rafael Gonzalez, Ignacio Gomez and his wife Minerva Hernandez, and Emilio Gomez. He will be remembered with love by his nieces and nephews, including Alexia Gonzalez, Elizabeth Gonzalez, Gabriel Gonzalez, Ariel Gomez, Isaac Gomez, and Natalia Gomez-Flores and her husband Uriel Flores. His family and friends will hold close the many memories of his humor, companionship, and steady presence.

Juan was preceded in death by his father, Juan Gomez Rodriguez.

Visitation will be held on September 25, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, St. Peters, 837 Mid Rivers Mall Dr, St Peters, Missouri 63376.

Juan Gerardo Gomez will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
