Kara Marie Castelli, beloved mother, wife, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully in her home in St Charles, Missouri, on August 17, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 21, 1972, in St. Louis, Missouri. Although her time with us feels all too brief, Kara's warmth and kindness touched everyone who knew her, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and gentle strength.
Kara's life was one defined by devotion—to her cherished family, to the simple joys that colored her days, and to the countless small acts of caring that made those around her feel special. Kara was known for her shy, soft-spoken nature, but beneath her gentle exterior was a spirit brimming with sweetness, fun, and an unshakeable love for the people close to her heart. She gifted those she loved with her unwavering support and her ability to listen, making every conversation feel meaningful and every memory so much more precious.
One of Kara's proudest accomplishments was her marriage to Anthony Castelli, a partnership that flourished for 28 joyful years. Together, they built a life rooted in love, laughter, and enduring commitment. Kara also took incredible pride in her son, Zachary, whose happiness and well-being were at the center of her world. She loved to reminisce, especially about the days when Zac was younger, always cherishing those memories with a fond smile and a loving heart.
Kara embraced life’s everyday pleasures. She found joy and beauty in her garden, nurturing plants with the same care and patience she gave her loved ones. She delighted in shoes and clothes, and could often be found browsing online to shop with a playful spark in her eye. Kara relished meals shared at her favorite restaurants and found happiness in simply being present with those she loved.
Kara is survived by her devoted husband, Anthony Castelli; her loving son, Zachary Castelli and his partner, Alyssa Nicholson; her adoring parents, Fred and Sharon Figura; her treasured mother-in-law, Christine Churovich; her sisters, Crystal Brenizer and Heather Henry (Wyatt); her brother, Matthew Figura (Katie); her brother-in-law, Jimmy Castelli (Tina); her sister-in-law, Donna Castelli (Mark Bear); her nieces, Kayla Ballsman, Madalyne Brenizer, Hannah Figura, Chloe McIntyre, Finley Guthrie, Harper Guthrie, and Norah Figura; her nephews, Robert Partell and Adam Partell; as well as many extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
She is now reunited with those who went before her: her father-in-law, Joseph Costello; her stepfather-in-law, George Churovich; and her beloved grandparents. The love and memories Kara created with each of them will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
Kara's gentle presence, loving nature, and the many ways she brought joy to her family and friends will never be forgotten. Her legacy is one of love, kindness, and quiet strength—a gift to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
