Kathleen M. Gicona, affectionately known as Kathy, was born on November 15, 1949, in St. Louis, Missouri. She departed this life on May 16, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and joy that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew her.
Kathy was known for her warmth and kindness, showing what it truly meant to be giving, caring, and nurturing. Her delightful sense of humor and fun-loving spirit brought laughter to every gathering, and her protective and supportive nature made her a cherished figure in her family and circle of friends. Those close to her will always remember her for her compassionate heart and her unique ability to make others feel valued.
Kathy found great joy in cooking and baking, often sharing her culinary creations with family and friends. She was an enthusiastic crossword puzzle solver, finding joy in the little challenges that kept her mind sharp. However, nothing brought her more happiness than playing with her beloved grandchildren, moments that will remain etched in their memories forever.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Peter Gicona; her son, Joseph (Michelle) Gicona; her daughter, Katherine (Jeremi) Gicona; and her five grandchildren, Colin (Emilee) Gicona, Anthony (Anya) Gicona, Blake Gicona, Peyton Bertels, and Greyson Bertels. Kathy's legacy also lives on through her two brothers, Thom (Michelle) Bohnert and Jack (Margie) Bohnert, as well as a host of other family members and friends who were fortunate enough to share in her life.
Kathy was preceded in death by her mother, Katherine Bohnert, and father, John Bohnert. They surely welcomed her with open arms, but the void left behind by her absence will be deeply felt by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
A visitation will be held in Kathy’s honor on May 22, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM, followed by a funeral service at 12:30 PM, both taking place at the Newcomer Funeral Home in St. Peters, Missouri.
As we remember Kathy, let us celebrate her life, her laughter, and the love she shared so generously. May her memory continue to inspire us all to embrace life with kindness and joy.
