Kathleen Elizabeth Jackson, known affectionately as Kate, was born on February 9, 1935, in St. Louis, Missouri. She departed this life peacefully on May 21, 2025, in Bridgeton, Missouri, surrounded by her loving family. Kate's life embodied the virtues of faith, love, and generosity, leaving a profound impact on everyone fortunate enough to have known her.
For 25 years, Kate dedicated her professional life as an Executive Assistant for the National Benevolent Association, where her commitment and hard work were exemplary. In addition to her career, she selflessly volunteered at Christian Northeast Hospital for the same span of time, demonstrating her unwavering generosity and compassion for others.
Kate was a deeply religious woman who prioritized her faith and spirituality. She found sanctuary in daily Mass, praying the Rosary, and was always eager to attend Sts Joachim & Ann Catholic Church. Her faith was not just a part of her life; it was the foundation upon which her strong and loving character was built. Those who witnessed her kind-hearted spirit will forever remember her as a beacon of forgiveness and strength, a guiding light in difficult times.
A beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Kate's proudest accomplishment was her beautiful family. She is survived by her loving children: Patti (Jim) Byrne, John (Sherri) Shields, Therese (Rich) Hutson, Mary (Dan) Jones, and Amy (Warren) Schnell. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren — Nicci, Jimmy, Vanessa, Katie, Maggie, Danny, Nick, Matt, Maddie, Zach, and Abbie — and her great-grandchildren, Makenzie, Kelli, Conner, Joseph, Ethan, Reagan, Kaylie, Payton, Addie, Austin, and Lilly. They were the joy of her life, and her unwavering support and encouragement shaped their lives in countless ways.
In addition to her vibrant family, Kate is survived by her siblings, Richard (Jackie) Hagenhoff and Judy (Joe) Graman, further enriching her familial bond.
In her quiet moments, Kate delighted in crocheting, visiting the casino, watching one of her favorite gameshows Jeopardy, and spending time immersed in episodes of Blue Bloods and NCIS. Her laughter and zest for life were infectious, making her a cherished presence in the lives of those around her. She also treasured watching The Price is Right with her favorite son.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Norman Jackson, her parents Alphonse and Anna Hagenhoff, her brother John A. Hagenhoff, and her first husband, John T. Shields, Sr. Their memories will forever remain etched in the hearts of her family, who take comfort in knowing they are reunited once more.
As we gather to honor Kate's life, we will celebrate her legacy of love and faith, which continues to inspire us. A visitation will be held on May 31, 2025, from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM, followed by a Mass at 10:00 AM at Sts Joachim & Ann Catholic Church in Saint Charles, Missouri. A graveside service will take place at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery at 11:30 AM.
Kate's journey through life, marked by her deep connections, unwavering faith, and immense love, will be greatly missed but lovingly remembered. She gave her family and friends so much, and her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the lives she touched.
