Fortified with the sacraments of Holy Mother Church, Kathy King, passed away on November 4, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on December 19, 1947, she lived a life marked by warmth, generosity, accomplishment, and deep devotion to her family.
Kathy was cheerful, upbeat, an avid reader, and always eager to learn something new. She had a generous heart and a gift for making others feel welcome. Social and loving, she could strike up a conversation with anyone and never met a stranger. Her family was at the center of her life, and she was especially loving toward those closest to her.
Her professional life reflected both compassion and versatility. Kathy held a nursing position for many years in a hospital and in home health care, serving others through meaningful and dedicated work. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing and also received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Cleveland College. In addition to her nursing career, she served as Manager at the Vineyards Clubhouse in St. Charles and was also an award-winning catalog salesperson. In sales, she achieved notable success, winning many trips year after year.
Kathy found joy in creativity and connection. She loved crafting and was a woman of many talents. She was especially proud of the many quilts she made, often giving them to others as an expression of love. Baking was another of her passions, and she was especially fond of baking apple pies and banana nut bread for her grandchildren. She also loved to travel the world and treasured time spent discovering new places. As a military wife, she embraced that role as part of her life’s journey.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Phil King, and by their six children: Kristy (Dave) Rudden, Dominic King, Philip J. (Kimberly) King, Jeremiah King, Zachary (Crystal) King, and Kathleen (Samuel) KingDavis. She also leaves behind 14 grandchildren, who were among the many blessings of her life. Kathy is further survived by her sisters, Eileen Cousino, Mary Margaret (Stan) Jakosh, Traci (Bill) Putinski, and Denise (Jim) Begin; and by her brothers, James (Jeanette) Green Jr., and Kevin (Darlene) Green. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will remember her with affection and gratitude.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Kathleen Mae Green; her father, James William Green, Sr.; and her brother-in-law, Curt Cousino.
