Larry Thompson, a devoted family man and respected professional, passed away on April 12, 2026. Born on November 8, 1953, in Artesia, California, Larry's life was marked by dedication, kindness, and a passion for the outdoors.
Larry spent 36 years with Professional Installers, establishing a career defined by commitment and expertise. Beyond his long tenure there, he was also well-known for his work at Bullseye Bait and Tackle. Even after his retirement, his affection for the shop and the craft led him back to enjoy creating fishing lures and relishing the camaraderie of the place that had become like a second home to him.
He was a man of gentle spirit and warmth, characterized by his loving and compassionate nature. Known among his family and friends as someone always ready to help, Larry was also recognized for his wit and mischievous sense of humor. He valued peace and was often the first to seek harmony, rarely engaging in conflict.
A true outdoorsman, Larry loved fishing, hunting, and spending time immersed in nature. This passion extended into media through his podcast, "Larry's Crazy Fishing Shack," where he shared his enthusiasm and knowledge with listeners. His connection to the outdoors was a defining element of his life and brought him immense joy.
Larry Thompson is survived by his beloved wife, Carolyn Thompson; three devoted daughters, Michelle (Pat) Milligan, Julie (Preston) Wild, and Kayla (Robert) Dunn; and nine grandchildren, James Milligan, Kaitlyn Milligan, Hannah Wild, Willow Cline, Olivia Wild, Mason Wild, Kaylee Clark, Emmett Dunn, and Eli Dunn. He is also survived by four siblings: Tommy Thompson, Davy (Marsha) Schmelz, Tony (Patti) Schmelz, and Christy (Rodney) Price, along with a broad network of family and friends who cherished his presence.
Larry was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Davis; his father, Joseph (Carroll) Schmelz; his grandchild, Kara Milligan; and sister-in-law, Tisha Thompson.
Visitation will be held on April 27, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, located at 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters, Missouri. A Mass to honor Larry’s life will take place on April 28, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church, 7 McMenamy Road, St. Peters, Missouri. The Mass will conclude by 11:00 a.m.
Larry Thompson’s legacy of love, humor, and dedication to both family and community will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
