Lawrence Borgmann, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, passed on September 23, 2024 at the age of 91 in St. Peters, Missouri. Born on December 4, 1932, in New Melle Missouri, Lawrence lived a life devoted to family, service and the land he cherished.
He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1953 to 1957, an experience that shaped his character and instilled in him a sense of duty and commitment that he carried throughout his life. Lawrence's profession as a farmer exemplified his love for working diligently and nurturing the earth. He approached farming not just as a livelihood, but as a calling, reflecting his deep connection to his roots and the community around him.
Lawrence was affectionately known for his unwavering commitment to his family. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Wilma Borgmann. Together they nurtured a home filled with love and support, raising their children, Delores (Bob) Desemone and Shirley Borgmann, who carry on his legacy. His pride and joy extended to his grandchildren—Ryan (Jami) Desemone, Jamie (Ben) Clausing, Jed Desemone, Nate Desemone, and Joel Desemone—each of whom he cherished deeply. Lawrence's family blossomed with the arrival of his great-grandchildren: Lily, Gideon, Alice, Sylas, and Lucy Desemone, along with Sam, George, Reuben, and William Clausing.
He was always eager to lend a helping hand, embodying the spirit of kindness and generosity that left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him. Throughout his life, Lawrence was actively involved in his community, holding many positions at Zion Lutheran Church. His faith was a cornerstone of his being, guiding him and inspiring those around him. The impact he had on his church and its congregation speaks volumes about his character and dedication to service.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Ella Borgmann, and his brother, Vernon Borgmann. He is survived by his loving wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, his sister, Eileen Theilmann, and many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Lawrence's life at Zion Lutheran Church, where visitation will take place on September 28, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place at Zion Lutheran Cemetery after the service and there will be a luncheon at the church following the interment.
Lawrence Borgmann will be remembered not only for his dedication to his family and his work but also for his compassionate spirit and the countless acts of kindness he extended to others. His legacy of love and service will continue to resonate through all those whose lives he touched.
