Leland E. Miller, born on November 9, 1933, in Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2025. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose legacy will be cherished by all who knew him.
Leland dedicated his life to his passion for aviation, working diligently as an aircraft mechanic. His love for tinkering extended beyond airplanes, as he also enjoyed working on cars and engaging in various projects that sparked his interest. Leland was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, a sporting enthusiasm that brought him joy throughout his life. He found comfort in the simplicity of stargazing, often spending nights observing the universe through his beloved telescope.
His annual visits back to his hometown in Oklahoma were highlights for him, allowing him to reconnect with his roots and reminisce about his past.
Leland is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Miller; his two daughters, Revina Miller and Taylor (Nick) Latta-Miller; and two sons, Timothy (Heidi) Von Rump and Darion (Megan) Miller. He was a proud grandfather to thirteen grandchildren: Damien Muchitello, Dominic Miller, Nick Latta Jr., Katherine (Myles) Hamilton, Hallie Hamilton, Trevor Latta, Timothy (Christina) Von Rump Jr., Amanda (Corey) Logan, Jannel (Jacob) Aiello, Hannah (Nabil) Von Rump, Emma (Sam) Von Rump, Amir Katimi, and Axel Miller. Leland also cherished his twenty great-grandchildren, who were a source of immense pride and joy: Dante Muchitello, Savannah Muchitello, Adrianna Hamilton, Myles Jefferson Jr., Aaliyiah Hamilton, Ariah Jefferson, Makai Jefferson, Masiah Jefferson, Major Grant, Malakai Brown, Ka'lani Cooper, Oliver Koch, Maelynn Aiello, Alena Beatty, Madalynn Chance, Camden Miesner, Nora Kate Logan, Sawyer Von Rump, Jace El'Amrani, and Vivienne Miesner, as well as a host of other family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Elsea Gertrude Miller; father, William Penn Miller; daughter, Kimberly Latta; son, Bruce Miller; and five brothers: Jack, Bill, Pennelton, Everett, and Don Miller. He was also preceded by three sisters: Esther Waller, Donna Miller, and Rheva Miller, along with two grandchildren, Michael Bollinger and Jesse Hamilton.
Leland's contributions to his family and community, coupled with his joyful spirit and unwavering support, will be remembered fondly as they celebrate his remarkable life.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 2, 2025, at St. Charles Memorial Gardens, 3950 W Clay St, St Charles, MO 63301
