Leo Lada, Jr., a man whose life was marked by dedication, love, and an unwavering generosity of spirit, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 18, 2026, in O'Fallon, Missouri. Born on December 14, 1932, in St. Louis, Missouri, Leo lived a life rich in experience and surrounded by the love of those who cherished him deeply.
Leo was a proud veteran who served honorably in the United States Navy, a testament to his sense of duty and commitment to his country. After his service, he embarked on a remarkable career as an electrical safety inspector for McDonnell Douglas, where he worked diligently for over 30 years from 1958 until the early 1990s. Among his many proudest accomplishments was his involvement in working on the SkyLab that ventured into outer space, a symbol of both his expertise and the extraordinary reach of his career. In addition to his work at McDonnell Douglas, Leo owned his own TV repair service, reflecting his resourcefulness and technical skill.
Known for his loving and generous nature, Leo did not know a stranger and was always ready to strike up a conversation. His personality was as vibrant as it was warm; he talked a lot, sharing stories and wisdom that endeared him to everyone he met. A man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life, Leo had a passion for fishing, hunting, going on trips, and most importantly, spending time with his family.
His family was the center of Leo’s world. He celebrated a beautiful and enduring marriage of 68 years to his beloved wife, Mary Ann Lada. Together, they built a life filled with love and happiness. Leo took immense pride in his children—Ruth (Tim) Berquist, Christine (Christopher) Margiotta, Barbara (Bruce) Porter, and Thomas Lada—who each carry forward his legacy of kindness and strength. His heart was further enriched by his eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him boundless joy and pride.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Frances Lada, his brothers, Paul and Ronald Lada, and his sister, Patricia Lada. Though they are no longer with us, their memories live on through the family that Leo so lovingly nurtured.
Retiring at the age of 58, Leo embraced his later years with the same enthusiasm and warmth with which he lived every other part of his life. His passing leaves a profound void, but his legacy—marked by a lifetime of love, devotion, and hard work—will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Leo Lada, Jr. will be remembered not only for the milestones he achieved but for the countless moments of kindness and connection that defined his journey. His story, woven through decades and generations, is one of a man who truly embodied the meaning of a life well-lived.
