Leonard Charles Wiggins, lovingly known as Len, passed away at home in St. Charles, Missouri on July 6, 2026, surrounded by his devoted family. Born on April 4, 1941, in East St. Louis, Illinois, Len’s journey through life was one marked by selfless generosity, a loving heart, and steadfast devotion to those he cherished most.

A proud graduate of Ritenour High School, class of 1959, Len continued his educational pursuits at the University of Missouri, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Business. His natural brilliance with mathematics and keen sense for business became evident early on, setting the stage for an exceptional career. Len began his professional journey at Boeing before moving on to become both a partner and an owner at St. Louis Lighting Group. Over the course of more than 35 years, he poured his ambition and talent into his work, becoming well-respected for his business acumen and as a masterful salesman. Colleagues remember Len not only for his competitiveness and drive but for his unwavering sense of fairness and sportsmanship, traits that he carried from his years as an athlete into every facet of his professional life.

Len’s love for sports was lifelong; he was an avid golfer who relished every chance to be out on the course, and, in his younger days, he enjoyed playing softball and bowling. His competitive spirit shone no matter the field, but above all, he was admired for his genuine sportsmanship—a quality that meant more to him than any trophy. Indeed, he was most proud of the “best sportsmanship” award he received, a testament to the kindness and warmth that defined his character.

Though accomplished in business and athletics, Len’s true pride and joy came from his beloved family. Family gatherings were always made brighter by his presence—he was a wonderful host who truly delighted in bringing people together, filling the home with laughter through his wonderful sense of humor and mischievous jokes. His playfulness and fun-loving spirit created a legacy of joy for everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Len was a devout Christian, who served at various churches over the course of his life. Most recently, he was a member of Calvary Church in St. Peters, where he was actively involved in care groups and gave generously to the church as well as numerous charities. The way he chose to live his life was reflective of his Christian faith.

To his family, Len was a pillar of love and strength: a dedicated husband, a loving father, and a proud grandfather and great-grandfather. Len married the love of his life, Bonnie, on November 4, 1967, and for 58 years, he shared his life with his treasured wife whose bond with him was unshakable and whose companionship was Len’s greatest source of happiness and pride. He leaves behind three loving daughters—Anastacia (Greg) Hernandez, April (Bret) O'Dell, and Katie (Neil) Ayres—each of whom carries forward his wit, determination, and boundless generosity. Len’s legacy continues through his grandchildren, Keegan (Leslie) O'Dell, Kiera (Jim) Sanders, Zell Ayres, and Vida Ayres, as well as his great-grandchildren, Kolton and Lily O'Dell. They all hold his memory close, inspired by the ways he touched their lives with unconditional love.

Len’s family meant everything to him. Even as he faced illness, his concerns were always for those he loved—worrying who would look after his cherished family. He was, as those closest to him will always remember, the most generous and selfless person they ever knew. His kindness and care were boundless, reaching not only to family but to every friend and colleague whose lives he brightened.

Preceding Len in death are his father, Leonard Wiggins, his mother, Mildred Wiggins, and his sister, Sharon Richardson. Their memories endure as part of the rich tapestry of Len’s life and legacy.
