Marcus Lee Meyerotto

Marcus Lee Meyerotto, a larger-than-life figure who graced our world from June 18, 1948, until February 27, 2026, peacefully departed this life surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in the charming town of St. Charles, Missouri, Marcus carried with him the warmth of a small-town spirit, along with a personality that could fill a room (and then some).

As an accomplished entrepreneur, Marcus was best known for owning and operating, the A&W on 2nd Street in St. Charles. His root beer floats and delicious burgers weren’t just a meal; they were a community gathering spot where stories were shared, laughter echoed, and friendships blossomed. The business world lost a true pioneer, but those frosty mugs will always remind us of his gregarious spirit.

A proud alumnus of the University of Missouri Saint Louis, Marcus earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business, proving that with hard work, dedication, and perhaps a sprinkle of his charming charisma, anything is possible. In addition to his many accomplishments as a civilian, he also served honorably in the United States Air Force – a testament to his determination and commitment.

The depth of Marcus's character shone brightly in his devotion to family. A loving husband to his cherished wife, Karin, for an impressive 57 years, he was a steadfast partner who would do anything to ensure her happiness and well-being. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with laughter, love, and maybe just a touch of friendly debate.

But his pride didn’t end there; he loved his sons, Mathew and Benjamin, who have followed in their father’s footsteps of being compassionate and dedicated men. His grandsons, Maxwell and Theodore "Teddy," were the apples of his eye, as he truly treasured the moments spent imparting his wisdom. In addition, he adored his daughters-in-law, Natalie, who cooked the best meatloaf (that rivaled his mother's), often cut his hair, and brought his amazing grandsons into the world and Aitza, who he joked would care for him after she finished medical residency. 

Marcus was not just a family man; he was the family historian. With a vast knowledge of his lineage, he ensured that the rich tapestries of their past would never be forgotten. His siblings, Bonnie, Teresa, and Dennie, will fondly remember him as the patriarch and the glue that held the family’s tales together.

Beyond family duties, Marcus indulged in hobbies that reflected his inquisitive nature. He was a passionate philatelist (stamp collector), and a history buff—especially of World War II. He loved asking questions and getting to know people, making friends wherever he went – a trait that ensured he never met a stranger.

Supported by a big heart and an even bigger personality, Marcus leaves behind a treasure trove of memories. From the ‘patriarch of the Meyerotto clan’ to the ‘A&W ambassador’ and ‘history enthusiast,’ he knew how to live life to the fullest, embracing every moment with humor, charm, and love.

Marcus is lovingly survived by, his beloved wife, Karin Meyerotto, his loving sons, Mathew (Natalie) Meyerotto and Benjamin (Aitza) Meyerotto, his grandsons, Maxwell Myerotto and Theodore Meyerotto, and his siblings, Bonnie (Jay) Miller, Teresa (Doug) Ehlmann, and Dennie (Denise) Meyerotto. 

Though he joins his parents, Frederick and Alma Meyerotto, in the great beyond, we know he’s already regaling them with lively tales, laughter, and, of course, maybe a few stories about the best stamp collections.

So, let’s raise a frosty mug of root beer to Marcus Lee Meyerotto—a man whose legacy will continue to bubble forth in the hearts of all who had the joy of knowing him. Cheers to a wonderful life well-lived!
