Marian Marie Schlenke, born on July 17, 1923, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2025, at the age of 101, leaving behind a legacy of love and a remarkable impact on all who knew her. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Marian embraced life with an unwavering spirit and a compassionate heart.
She took great pride in her talents, particularly in sewing and quilting, where her creativity flourished. Her passion for these crafts was evident in the intricate designs and beautiful pieces she created, often sharing them with family and friends. Marian’s dedication to her pursuits was matched only by her devotion to her family, especially her grandchildren, who were the centerpiece of her life.
Marian was a proud member of All Saints Catholic Church, an integral part of her spiritual journey. She actively participated in the community, enriching her faith and that of others. Additionally, she was a valued member of the American Legion Post 313 Auxiliary, contributing her time and energy to support veterans and their families.
Marian is survived by her loving son, Frank (Rita) Schlenke. She cherished her role as a grandmother to Nicholas “Nick” (Jordan) Schlenke and was blessed with two great-grandchildren, Lucas Schlenke and Sophia Schlenke. She also leaves behind her sister, Evelyn Zalabak, along with a host of other family members and friends who will carry her spirit with them.
She was preceded in death by her parents John and Mary Thornhill (nee Morek); her husband, Edward Schlenke; her son, Gerard Schlenke; and her siblings—two sisters, Marcella Kuester and Bettie Lammert; and three brothers, Garrett Thornhill, Robert Thornhill, and Eugene Thornhill.
Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved her, and she will be deeply missed. A visitation will be held at All Saints Catholic Church in St. Peters, MO, on May 14, 2025, from 10:00AM until 11:00 AM, followed by a Mass celebrating her life at 11:00 AM, Immediately following Mass a graveside service will take place at All Saints Catholic Cemetery. The church is located at 7 McMenamy Road, St. Peters, MO 63376.
