Marilyn Sue Krokstrom, known affectionately as Sue, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 15, 2026, in Chesterfield, Missouri. Born on December 22, 1938, in Chanute, Kansas. Everyone fortunate enough to know Sue was touched by her quiet strength, boundless kindness, and her spirit of adventure and fun..
Sue’s journey was one of dedication and pioneering vision. She was an early leader in remote work during the 1970s, a remarkable feat for her time, working as a bookkeeper for a small oil and gas company. Her career culminated at Don Munger Company in Kansas City, where she devoted over twenty years, bringing her steadfast reliability and meticulous care to all she did. Sue’s contributions behind the scenes ensured everything ran smoothly, reflecting her easy-going and even-tempered nature.
Her educational achievements were a source of pride—not only for herself but also for her family. Sue was the first in her family to attend and graduate college, earning an Associate’s Degree from Neosho County Community College. This accomplishment was a testament to her determination and forward-thinking approach to life.
Above all, Sue’s proudest accomplishments were deeply personal—her beloved family. She was a devoted mother to her loving sons, Greg (Michelle) Krokstrom, Brad (Peggy) Krokstrom, and Mark Krokstrom. Her heart found its fullest joy in her role as a grandmother, cherished by her grandchildren Mara Krokstrom, Morgan (Cole) Williams, Andrew (Chelsea) Krokstrom, Emily (Mark) Palmquist, Alex (Alyssa) Krokstrom, Sarah (Hunter) Krokstrom, Aidan (Katie) Krokstrom, Haley Krokstrom, and Avery Krokstrom. Her love extended warmly to her great-grandchildren: Luke Williams, Leah Krokstrom, Jack Krokstrom, Katie Palmquist, Cole Palmquist, and Nolan Palmquist, each a living testament to her enduring legacy.
Sue’s warmth and generosity extended beyond her family. She was known for her fun-loving spirit and her love for simple pleasures: enjoying happy hours, watching sunsets, tending to her garden full of flourishing flowers and plants, and making treasured memories at Lake of The Ozarks with family and friends. These moments reflected her gentle, generous nature and her desire to nurture growth and joy in all aspects of life.
Sue’s journey was also marked by the profound love and memory of those who preceded her: her beloved husband, Tom Krokstrom; her parents, Orville and Vita Barnum; and her siblings, Jack Krokstrom and Peggy Sparks. Their memories lived on in her heart, shaping the person she became.
Marilyn Sue Krokstrom’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven with faith, family, and quiet accomplishment.
