Mark Anthony Greenly, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and faithful servant of God, was born on April 27, 1964, in Fullerton, California, to Mitchell and Madeline Greenly. Mark ran his with steadfast endurance and went home to the Lord on Wednesday, December 17, 2025. One of eleven children, Mark grew up in Buena Park, California in a crowded but loving home that shaped the man he would become— deeply patriotic, an unwavering devotion to family and a sharp-minded man always ready for spirited debate.
From an early age, Mark loved sports of every kind. He cherished fishing trips with his dad and brothers and remained a lifelong fan of all Los Angeles teams, especially the Rams, Dodgers, and Lakers, as well as the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. As a youth, he played Little League baseball and later played football at Servite High School in Anaheim, where his intellectual curiosity flourished. It was at Servite that Mark developed a deep and enduring love for theology, philosophy, and politics— passions that would stay with him for the rest of his life, and as those who knew him would wholeheartedly agree, they fueled countless thoughtful conversations.
Mark’s love for sports brought him to a coaching position for a local little league in Buena Park where he would soon meet the love of his life, Rhonda Gugert. The rest, as they say, is history. They fell in love and were married, and Mark immediately embraced Rhonda’s three children as his own. Together, they welcomed a baby son and raised four remarkable children: Doss, Valerie, James, and Matt.
In his professional life, even early in his career, Mark had great success as an executive at a Fortune 500 company, and then later at a large non-profit Catholic healthcare and hospital company. Mark also took his talents into the industrial world, running and transforming a pipe & steel company in the oil and energy industry.
Mark lived his faith most powerfully through his unwavering commitment and full devotion to his family. He coached and umpired little league, attended school plays and sporting events, and sacrificed to help with college tuition and joyfully celebrated their weddings. Mark was an extremely proud father and became a devoted and loving grandfather who was grateful always for the gift of family entrusted to him by God.
Family was the center of Mark’s life. He shared an especially close bond with his brothers Matt, Jim, and Todd, and later with their sons. Together they formed an inseparable group, always ready for a poorly executed round of golf, a fantasy football league, or a good old-fashioned poker game filled with laughter, camaraderie and always spirited but meaningful conversations.
Mark was a man of deep faith, uncompromising integrity, and fierce patriotism. He was someone who could always be counted on— a steady presence, a loyal friend, and a man who lived by his convictions.
Mark is survived by his devoted wife and soulmate, Rhonda; children Doss (Shannon), Valerie (Bryce), James (Jessica), and Matt (Heather); his nine grandchildren Olivia, Tyson, Carson, Brady, Avery, Derek, Emery, Hailey and Conrad; and his siblings Brenda Zamorano, Mary Ann Miller, Matt Greenly, and Jimmy Greenly, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Though his passing was unexpected and leaves a significant void, we take deep comfort in knowing that Mark is home with the Lord whom he loved and served.
“His master replied, "Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!" Matthew 25:21
