Listen to Obituary

Mary grew up in the country in the small southern Illinois town of Anna, where she learned the simple joys of family, community, faith, and making others feel welcome. It was there that she met her high school sweetheart, Gary. The two married and shared a beautiful life together for 65 years.

After their marriage, Gary and Mary moved to St. Charles, Missouri, where they built their home and raised their two daughters, Laura (Scott) Davis Seddon and Lynda (Richard) Davis Oliver. Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and her family was the greatest joy of her life.

Mary was blessed with four grandsons: Ryne (Nicole) Seddon, Daniel (Nicki) Seddon, Austin (Maressa) Oliver, and Andrew Oliver. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Ada, Nicolas, Jonah, and Rhett. She treasured every moment spent with her family and loved watching them grow.

Mary was proceeded in death by her devoted husband; Gary Lynn Davis, her parents; Thomas and Mildred Bostain, son- in-law; Richard Oliver.

Mary found joy in many of life's simple pleasures. She enjoyed crafting and shopping, and in her younger years, she and Gary enjoyed traveling together on cruises and making memories along the way. Above all, she loved spending time with her daughters and grandsons and being surrounded by the people she loved.

Her faith was a central part of Mary's life. She faithfully attended church and was an active and beloved member of her church community for more than 60 years. Her faith wasn't simply something she practiced—it was something she lived. Mary had a special gift for showing God's love to others through her kindness, compassion, and generosity.

Mary never knew a stranger. She had a way of making everyone feel welcome, valued, and loved. Her warm smile could light up a room, and her home was always open to friends and family. There was always a place at her table and a cup of coffee waiting for anyone who stopped by. She had a beautiful way of turning ordinary moments into treasured memories.

Mary leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, kindness, and hospitality that will live on through her family and all those fortunate enough to have known her. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing that the love she gave so freely will continue to live on in the hearts of her daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, friends, and church family.

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home in St. Peters, Missouri. A funeral service will follow at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
