Mary Kay Cessna passed from this world on July 6, 2026, in St Peters, Missouri, peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Born on December 27, 1937, Mary Kay was a beacon of warmth, wisdom, and compassion who touched countless hearts throughout her long and remarkable life.
Mary Kay's journey was marked by her love of learning and dedication to helping others grow. She earned her bachelor's degree in Education from Saint Louis University, quickly continuing to pursue a Master’s degree in Psychology at the same institution. These academic achievements paved her way to a career as an elementary school teacher. She nurtured young minds with a kind but steady hand before choosing to devote herself full time to raising her family, a decision she embraced wholeheartedly.
Family was always at the core of Mary Kay’s heart. She cherished her role as a devoted wife to Charles Cessna, Sr., with whom she shared 39 beautiful years of marriage—a bond that brought her immense joy and pride. Their love was a steadfast foundation for the wonderful family that grew around them.
Mary Kay’s love and wisdom will forever be treasured by her children—her daughter Cindy McKinnis and her son Charles "Chuck" (Mary) Cessna, Jr.—and carried forward by her grandchildren: Jillian (Thomas) Miller, Jessica (Danny Miskov) McKinnis, Joshua Cessna, Ryan (Olivia) Cessna, and Brandon (Lauren) Cessna. The legacy of her caring spirit continues with her great-grandchildren Keagan, Trenton, Riverlynn, Aiden, and Elaina. Her brother Joseph "Joey" (Connie) Hines and sister Kathy (Charles "Buddy") Toon share in these cherished memories and grieve her loss, as do all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Mary Kay’s life was marked by an insatiable curiosity and an adventurous spirit. She was never content to sit still, instead embracing passions that spanned from scuba diving—where she distinguished herself as an instructor—to gardening, feeding and caring for birds and stray cats, and nurturing any living thing, no matter how small or overlooked. Her big heart was matched only by her sparkling mind; she was super smart and was often playfully said to “know everything.” Friends and family remember her as a big foodie, always eager to make new memories while dining out, and as someone whose love for her family, her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and her church community was unshakeable. Mary Kay was also a dedicated advocate for all critters, displaying her compassion not only through words but through daily acts of kindness and stewardship.
Throughout every chapter of her life, Mary Kay remained proudest of two gifts: the loving partnership she shared with Charles and the enduring joy brought to her by her children and grandchildren. In all things, she lived passionately, laughed fully, and loved without condition.
She is now reunited in eternal peace with her beloved husband Charles Cessna, Sr., her father Arthur Hines, mother Bernadine Hines, brother Art Hines, and sister Patricia Ann Hines, each of whom welcomed her home with open arms.
