Mary Eileen Wootton (Hill) age 75, of Portage des Sioux, MO, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 23, 1950 in Toledo, OH to George and Mariam (Nanny) Hill.
Mary’s journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. Mary was a graduate of Whitmer High School “Class of 68” in Toledo and attended Toledo University. She entered the Army in 1968 where she was a Physical Therapist. She worked as a licensed practical nurse (LPN) for over 35 years. She loved racing, having driven race cars for 10 years; bowling, where she bowled a perfect 300 game and proudly wore her “300 ring” every day; playing her favorite hymns on her piano and traveling, especially to Branson, MO.
A loving wife and mother (and grandmother of 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren), Mary loved people. She especially had a heart for senior citizens and “never knew a stranger.” She was always a positive, happy, adventurous and outgoing person that people were drawn to.
Mary was preceded in death by her father and mother, George and Mariam Hill and son, Jeremy Wootton. She is survived by her devoted husband of over 50 years, Alton Leo Wootton; daughter, Dawn Saindon (husband Pat), son, Patrick Wootton (wife Jennifer), daughter Nanette (late husband James) Duncan; twin sister Jeri Yates (Hill).
Mary’s passing has left a void in the hearts of family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by her. We ask that she be remembered for the way she lived and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing her. She will be dearly missed.
