Michael L. Cochran, fondly known as Mike, passed away on May 4, 2025, in St. Louis, Missouri, at the age of 75. Born on July 31, 1949, in Independence, Missouri, Michael made a significant impact throughout his life professionally and personally.
Michael began his career in the electronics industry and became President of C.C. Bell Electronics, while also serving as the President of the Television Electronics Service Association (TESA). His dedication and expertise in the field set a standard in the industry, earning him respect and admiration from his peers. After retirement, he began working at Cornerstone United Methodist as the AV/Media coordinator.
An avid learner, Michael graduated from Camdenton High School and pursued higher education, earning his Bachelor's Degree in Physics and Mathematics from Central Methodist College. He was a proud member of Delta Sigma Psi.
Known affectionately as "Mister-Fix-It," Michael had an undeniable flair for problem-solving and was often sought after for his expertise in home and garden projects. He was a passionate collector of tools—regardless of whether he used them—and took immense pride in his beautiful lawn, showcasing his love for the outdoors.
Michael was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and actively participated in the United Methodist Men's Group. His contributions extended beyond the church community as he was an Endowed Member of the Masons, reflecting his commitment to service and fellowship. He and his wife, Dianne, went on many mission trips through their church throughout the years.
In addition to his professional achievements, Michael enjoyed a variety of hobbies. He cherished moments spent feeding the birds in his yard and, paradoxically, held a particular disdain for raccoons and squirrels that sought to raid his efforts. He was an enthusiastic barbecue aficionado and a dedicated fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, although he humorously acknowledged that his devotion to the team paled in comparison to that of his beloved wife.
Michael is survived by his wife, Dianne Cochran; two sons, Michael Cochran, and Benjamin (Chris Eisele) Cochran; daughter, Heather (Eric) Duffner; and two grandchildren, Holly (Jarod) Duffner and Joshua Duffner. He is also survived by his sister, Janie (Gene) Copeland; brother, Patrick (Ann Bondurant) Cochran; two sisters-in-law, Cindy and Susan; as well as five nephews, Lee, Jeff, Geno, Jimmy, Patrick; five nieces, Jenny, Katie, Adrian, Rachel, Maggie; and a host of other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Austin Cochran; mother, Violet Mertle Cochran; and sister, Karolyn (Wendell) Smith; brothers-in-law, Skip and Ray. Michael's legacy of kindness, ingenuity, and devotion to family will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
For Michael's service, the family encourages guests to wear a hat if they like in honor of Michael's hat collection.
