Michael G. Schaffner

Michael G. Schaffner, a cherished husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on September 24, 2025, in St. Peters, Missouri, at the age of 77. Born on March 26, 1948, in East Saint Louis, Illinois, Michael lived a life dedicated to service, family, and the joys of nature.

Michael honorably served his country in the United States Air Force from 1966 to 1974, a proud veteran of the Vietnam War in 1969, and he was also stationed in Japan during his service. His dedication to duty was not only a hallmark of his military career but also reflected in his work as a boilermaker, where he was an active member of Boilermaker Union Hall Local 363.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Michael found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a deep love for outdoor activities, whether he was taking care of his lawn or enjoying the beauty of flowers in bloom. An avid puzzle enthusiast, he kept his mind sharp and relished challenges. Michael had a special fondness for sharing moments with his grandchildren, taking them fishing and ensuring he never missed a milestone in their lives. His infectious laughter and his passion for dance brought joy to those around him, creating lasting memories that will be cherished by his family.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Susan Schaffner, who stood by his side through thick and thin. Their bond was a testament to love and commitment. He is survived by his children: Jennifer (Mike) Marberry, Michael L. Schaffner, Stephanie (Dave Tison) Sikes, Tyson (Nicki) Schaffner, and Justin (Valerie) Moll. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Dylan Vaughn, Jodessa (Justin Baldwin) Bowman, Hannah (Austin Steiniger) Sikes, Michael Schaffner, Logan Moll, Evan Sikes, Makenna Moll, Charlie Miller, and Brady Miller.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Anita Schaffner, and his brothers, Dennis and Wayne Schaffner. Their memories will forever reside in the hearts of those who loved him, even as he journeys on.
