Mikel J. Smith

Mikel J. Smith, a beloved father, son, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2026. Born on October 18, 1954, Mikel lived a life marked by devotion to his family and a passion for the outdoors.

In his younger years, Mikel enjoyed fishing and hunting, hobbies that brought him great joy and a connection to nature. He also had an interest in watching UFC, which added excitement to his leisure time.

Mikel’s memory will be cherished by his son, Justin Smith; his daughter, Christina Fryer, and her husband, Dustin; and his beloved grandchild, Sebastian Kestermeier. He is also remembered fondly by his sister, Cary Martin and her husband Roger, as well as his brother, Don Smith. Beyond his immediate family, Mikel leaves behind a host of other family members and friends who were fortunate to know him.

Mikel was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Smith, and his mother, Wanda Smith. Their legacy of love and strength lived on through him.

All who knew Mikel will remember a man of kindness and quiet strength, whose presence enriched the lives of those around him.

A visitation in honor of Mikel will be held on May 3, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home in St. Peters, Missouri, located at 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive. The funeral service will follow on May 4, 2026, at 11:30 AM at the same location. A graveside service will take place the same day at St. Charles Memorial Gardens, 3950 W Clay St, St Charles, MO 63301, at 1:00 PM. 

Mikel J. Smith will be greatly missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of love, family, and faithful friendship endures in the hearts of those he touched.
