Milton Lamar Fulghum, Jr.

Milton Lamar Fulghum Jr., age 81, went home to be with the Lord on July 25, 2026, in St. Louis, MO.

Milt was born on February 27, 1945, in Athens, Georgia, to the late Milton and Jewel Fulghum. He graduated in 1964 from Jackson High School, Jackson, SC where he participated in Honor Society, Student Council and Yearbook Staff and even drove a school bus! After a year at Clemson University, where he was in ROTC and participated in Scabbard and Blade, he joined the United States Air Force, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. He attended basic training at Lackland AFB, and continued training at Keesler AFB. After a tour of duty at Peshawar Air Station, Badaber, Pakistan, he was honorably discharged from Offutt AFB. After completing his military service, he returned to Clemson, earning a Bachelor of Science in Physics in December,1972.

While at Offutt AFB, he met the love of his life, Paula Kline, in their singles Sunday School class. They became engaged on New Year’s Eve, two months after their first date, and they were married in Bellevue, Nebraska on June 20, 1970. After finishing his degree, they moved to State College, PA where he began his career with HRB Singer. In 1975, they moved to St. Charles, MO where he worked as a software engineer writing programs for flight simulators for McDonnell Douglas and later retired from Flight Safety International in 2018.

Milt had a strong faith in God and was saved and baptized at the age of 11 at Beech Island Heights Baptist Church. As a member of Waypoint Church (First Baptist-Harvester) for 51 years, he faithfully served in church his whole life as a deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, preschool Sunday School teacher, and Church Council member. He most recently served with Carpenters for Christ and Homebound Ministry. He was also a member of the Gideons.

Milt poured into his family, spending many nights helping tearful daughters with math homework and weekends cheering at band competitions. He taught them car maintenance, troubleshooting home appliances and most importantly, about Jesus and the importance of serving in church. He bought his children and grandchildren their first toolboxes, which they still use to this day. He was the ultimate fan of his grandchildren’s activities, sitting in the audience of so many plays, concerts, sporting events, awards ceremonies and graduations. He loved the Clemson Tigers, war movies and books, jigsaw puzzles and playing games with family and friends.

Milt is survived by his wife, Paula (Kline) Fulghum of O’Fallon, MO; three daughters, Cyndi Turner of St. Charles, MO, Julie (Joe) Falcomata of Holly Springs, GA and Shayla (Matt) Gordon of Cottleville, MO. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Emily (Jake) Ellsworth, Kaitlyn Powell, Marc Falcomata, Abby Turner, Paige Falcomata, Rebecca Turner, Sarah Turner and Nathan Turner. He is also survived by two brothers, James Fulghum of Salley, SC and Charles (Sherri) Fulghum of Aiken, SC, one brother-in-law, Ron Kline of Springfield, MO as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Doris (Nick) Gossett.
