Listen to Obituary

Ned Loetz, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2025, at the age of 78 in St. Peters, Missouri. He was born on October 2, 1947, in Brownwood, Texas, where he first started to touch the lives of those around him.

Ned’s life was deeply enriched by his service as a proud member of the United States Marine Corps, where he honorably fought in the Vietnam War. His dedication to serving his country was a testament to his character and strength, qualities that would shape his relationships and legacy in the years that followed.

He is survived by his loving children, Tracy (Mark) Young and Brent (Shellie) Loetz, who carried forward his values of kindness and resilience. Ned found great joy in being a grandparent, and he cherished the time spent with each of his grandchildren: Justin Sattley, Alyssa Young, Austin (Evonne) McClain, Gabby Loetz, and Alex (Kirsten) Loetz. They brought laughter and purpose into his life, and he took great pride in watching them grow.

Ned also relished in the happiness of his great-grandchildren—Dominic Young, Zoey McClain, Oliver McClain, and Westley Salser—who illuminated his later years. To them, he was not just a great-grandfather, but a source of wisdom and love that left an indelible mark on their young hearts.

In addition to his children and grandchildren, Ned is also survived by his siblings: Michael (LaDonna) Loetz, Kathy Castell, Bryan (Edward) Loetz, and Kelly Loetz. Their shared memories and experiences form a tapestry of love and support that bind the family together.

Ned was predeceased by his beloved wife, Ann Loetz, whose memory will forever remain cherished in the hearts of his family. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Theodore Sr. and Adelaide Loetz, and his siblings April Miller and Theodore Loetz Jr., each of whom played an essential role in shaping his life.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, December 13, 2025 at 11:00 am at Zion Lutheran Church, 3866 Old Hwy 94 S, St Charles, MO 63304.

Ned’s warmth, wisdom, and care will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy lives on in his family, who will remember him not only as a soldier but as a devoted family man whose heart embraced them all. As they gather to celebrate his life, they will hold close the memories of laughter, love, and the lessons he imparted, guiding them in their own lives ahead.
