Listen to Obituary

Norberto Rodriguez, a devoted Air Force veteran and cherished family man, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2026, in Ballwin, Missouri, surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 22, 1934, in Naranjito, Puerto Rico, Norberto’s life was marked by unwavering dedication, steadfast leadership, and a deep love for those closest to him.

Norberto served his country with honor in the United States Air Force, proudly retiring after 23 years of distinguished service. His military career took him and his wife, Sol Rodriguez, to numerous locations, beginning with their time stationed in Newfoundland, Canada. It was there that their family began, with their daughters following them around the world, attending schools in every country in which they lived. Norberto’s military identity remained a defining part of his life, and he took great pride in participating in the Honor Flight program, an experience that deeply touched him. Even after retirement, the discipline and sense of command instilled by his service stayed with him, as he continued to embrace responsibilities with authority and care.

Following his military career, Norberto transitioned seamlessly into the civilian workforce, contributing to the vital operations of St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield by working in supply chain management. His commitment and sense of duty carried through in this role, helping to ensure that essential needs were met with precision and efficiency.

Norberto was a man of contrasts—often funny and quick with a smile, yet capable of stern resolve when the moment called for it. Above all, his heart belonged to his grandchildren, whom he treasured deeply. His joy and pride in them were unmistakable and enduring. As a dedicated member of the American Legion, post #208, he fostered many friendships and enjoyed engaging in numerous activities, finding camaraderie among fellow veterans and community members.

He was the beloved husband of Sol Rodriguez; a proud father to Janet (Richard) Judd, Cheryl (Gary Davidson) Rodriguez, and Jacqueline (Randy) Friedman; and a doting grandfather to Justin (Natalie Tocco) Koebel, Nicole (Jordan) Elsen, Kyle (Morgan) Friedman, and Kathryn Friedman. His legacy also lives on in his great-grandchildren, James and Jack Elsen, and a grandchild eagerly awaited by the family. Norberto is survived by his sisters, Letty Rodriguez and Aurelia Barros, who remember him fondly. He was predeceased by his newborn daughter, Jeannette, father, Justino Rodriguez, and mother, Rosa Rodriguez.
