With profound sadness, the family of Pamela Jean (Oettel) Wines, 77, announces that Pam passed away on June 8, 2026, due to a stroke suffered several days earlier. Pam was blessed to have her family at her bedside at the time of her passing.
Pam was born in Alton, Illinois, on September 19, 1948, to Robert (Elmer) and Evelyn (née Charley) Oettel. She was preceded in death by her parents. Pam is survived by her husband of 54 years, Larry; their two daughters, Angie (Ron) Janes and Stacie (Ben) Brasseur, both of Chesterfield, Missouri.
Pam, affectionately known as “Ma,” both adored and was adored by her grandchildren. She is survived by Kaylynn, Annalynn, Ridge, and Madalynn Janes, as well as Cameron and Brie Brasseur.
Also surviving is her sister, Barbara (David) Francis of West Lafayette, Indiana.
Pam graduated from Civic Memorial High School in Bethalto, Illinois, in 1966 and went on to study education at Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO) in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, where she graduated in 1970. While at SEMO, Pam joined the Delta Delta Delta (Tri Delta) sorority.
Pam returned to Illinois after graduation and taught middle school students in Alton, Illinois. After the birth of her first child, she transitioned to being a full-time mom, a role in which she truly excelled. Pam was deeply involved in the school activities of both daughters and somehow still found time to assist with bookkeeping tasks at the business Larry’s father founded, Aberdeen Appliance Parts, and later at Larry’s newly launched company, Johnstone Supply.
Pam also maintained a strong connection to Tri Delta by serving for nearly 20 years as President of the local Tri Psi sorority chapter, a group of mothers of Tri Delta initiates focused on scholarship fundraising.
On their wedding day, June 26, 1971, Pam and Larry were just two young people in love, with no idea what the future would bring. Over the years, God blessed them with two very special daughters, two men of character to love and support their daughters, six amazing grandchildren, many dear friends, and never a day in need. Pam lived a truly wonderful life.
She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, gentle spirit, and strong faith in God. Those who knew her would agree—this was Pam. While we rejoice in knowing she is now with Jesus, we will deeply miss our beloved “Ma.”
A visitation to honor Pam’s life will take place on Monday, June 15, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 2211 Clarkson Road, Chesterfield, Missouri. A funeral service will be held the following morning, June 16, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service will follow at Bellerive Gardens Cemetery, 740 N. Mason Road, St. Louis, Missouri 63141.
The family invites you to share your memories of Pam at a reception at Forest Hills Country Club, 36 Forest Club Drive, Chesterfield, Missouri 63005, immediately following the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Pam may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
