Listen to Obituary

Patricia Ann Matejcic, nee Stewart, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026, in Hendersonville, Tennessee, surrounded by her loving family. She was 85 years old.

Patricia was born on February 29, 1940, in St. Louis, Missouri. She was a proud graduate of Beaumont High School and Lindenwood College, both in St. Louis. A lifelong Catholic, her faith was a steady and guiding presence throughout her life.

On February 13, 1960, Patricia married her beloved husband, John James Matejcic. Together they shared 66 years of marriage and made their home in Chesterfield, Missouri, where they were active parishioners of Ascension Catholic Church for 30 years. John continues to reside in Hendersonville, Tennessee.

Patricia is survived by her devoted husband, John; her son, John W. Matejcic of Ballwin, MO; and her daughter, Gail Matejcic Peace and her fiancé, Dennis Kennedy, of Gallatin, Tennessee. She is also survived by her siblings, William Stewart and his wife Sandy Stewart, of St. Charles, MO, and Elizabeth Wesolich of Groveland, Florida, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A woman of many talents and a quick, joyful sense of humor, Patricia brought light to every room she entered. Her hobbies included needlepoint, quilting, the garden club, tap and jazz dancing and attending the Muni Opera. She carried that same rhythm and grace into everything she did. One of her greatest joys was traveling and spending cherished time with family and friends on cruise ships.

Patricia lived a life rooted in service and generosity. Her favorite charities, Lifeseekers and Sweet Babies, reflected her deep compassion for others. Professionally, she began her career in the stenography pool at the FBI before spending 30 successful years in real estate in the St. Louis area, where she was respected for her professionalism, integrity, and warmth.

Patricia will be remembered as a loving wife and mother, a faithful Catholic, a dedicated professional, and a woman whose humor, kindness, and generosity touched many lives.

Visitation will be held on January 26, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, Chesterfield, Missouri 63017. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on January 27, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Ascension Catholic Church, Chesterfield, Missouri 63017.
