Patricia “Patti” Dell (née Hatcher) Campbell, age 84, of Saint Charles and Chesterfield, passed away on Saturday October 10, 2026, in Saint Louis. She was born in Bragg City, Missouri on September 04, 1942, to Odell and Luetta (née Paul) Hatcher.
Patti was an avid sewist. Her creations included Barbie clothes, her daughter’s prom dress, quilts, and too many hems to be counted. Patti painted ceramics for many years, creating a wide range of items including sooo many strawberries, cookie jars, and all the wild birds. Every year at Christmas, the family received numerous Hallmark ornaments. She may have single-handedly kept the Jan’s Hallmark on Zumbehl in business. Patti loved to cook for her family, with favorites including strawberry jelly, spaghetti, fried potatoes, Texas sheet cake, brownies, and Twinkie Surprise.
Patti was the family genealogist for both the Hatcher and Campbell families. She spent many hours searching archives far and wide, sending her daughter to the National Archives for information she later learned she already had, cold calling “new cousins,” and hounding new family members for information. My Dad was the tenth of the eleven children of Mamie and Daddy Rob. Mom was the last of the generation of aunts, uncles, and in-laws, marking the end of a very special chapter in The Campbells’ story.
Patti was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Campbell, and her parents, Odell and Luetta Hatcher.
Patti is survived by her daughter, Christy (Brian) Macke; her son, Rob (Betty) Campbell), two granddaughters, Jessi (Ryan) Van Dillen and Staci Beale; one great-grandson Case Van Dillen; her brother David (Karen) Hatcher; many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Patti loved her Delmar Gardens family of residents and the entire staff, especially her BFF, Judy Goldstein.
Patti’s life was one well-lived, and by her own words, “my cup runneth over.”
