Patricia A. Plociennik

Patricia A. Plociennik, beloved educator and cherished family matriarch, passed away on August 9, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on October 16, 1935, Patricia dedicated her life to teaching in schools around Chicago and Aurora, Illinois. She was deeply passionate about education and adored the children she taught throughout her distinguished career.

A proud graduate of DePaul University, Patricia remained a devoted supporter of the Blue Demons, manifesting her love for college basketball all her life. Her enthusiasm for the sport was but one facet of her vibrant personality; she was also known for her passion for antiquing and spending joyful hours at flea markets with friends, uncovering treasures along the way.

Patricia's warmth and kindness extended beyond her professional life. She found great happiness in being surrounded by her family and friends. In her final years, she was lovingly cared for by her daughter, Mary Jo, and her dear son-in-law, Brian.

Patricia is survived by her daughters, Mary Jo (Brian) Sellers and Emilie C. George; four grandchildren, Victoria Sellers, Jane (Phillip) Ragland, Mitchell George, and Suzanna George; two brothers, Joseph (Esther) Severa and John (Monica) Severa; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other beloved family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James J. Plociennik, her father, Joseph Severa, her mother, Mildred Severa, and her brother, James Severa. Patricia A. Plociennik will be remembered not only for her contributions to education but also for her genuine spirit and the love she shared with everyone around her.
