With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Patrick Earl Raftery, who left this world peacefully on July 23, 2026, in St. Louis, Missouri. Born on January 10, 1972, in St. Louis, Patrick's heart lay in Cedar Hill, Missouri, where he spent his happiest years. His journey through life was marked by kindness, resilience, and an unwavering love for his family and the world around him.
Patrick was the embodiment of warmth and generosity. To know him was to experience a person who truly wore his heart on his sleeve. His compassion and selflessness were evident in every relationship and encounter. He cared deeply about everyone in his life, always prioritizing the well-being of others, and his loving spirit shone brightest as a devoted dad. His son, Tyler, was the centerpiece of his world, the accomplishment of which he was most proud.
He was a much-loved brother to Michael John (Michelle) Raftery, Jr. and Jacqueline Ann (Curt) Watters, and life partner to Vanessa Dillow. He was also survived by former wife and mother of his child, Donna Raftery, and numerous loving nieces, nephews, cousins. Though Patrick now joins his father, Michael John Raftery, Sr., his mother, Judy Ann Raftery, and his brother, Terry DeClue, in rest, his memory continues to bind those he loved in gratitude and fond recollection.
His legacy is shaped not only by how deeply he loved, but also by how hard he worked. Patrick spent many years dedicated to Lear Manufacturing as a lineman, a position he held with pride and diligence. Later, his ambition and close relationship with his son flourished in the business they built together—Raftery Property Preservation. The company became more than a livelihood; it was a testament to their partnership, trust, and Patrick’s commitment as a father and mentor.
Outside of work, Patrick was irresistibly drawn to the natural world. A true nature lover, he found solace and freedom in the outdoors. Whether fishing, hunting, or simply breathing in the fresh air, Patrick’s appreciation for nature was infectious. He took joy in collecting arrowheads—amassing a remarkable collection filled with rare treasures—and in searching for rocks as an enthusiastic “rock hound.” These passions connected him with both the earth and the people he shared them with, leaving cherished moments and legendary stories.
Despite the hardships he faced, especially during his final days, Patrick maintained a steadfast sense of humor. Even in the hospital, battling illness, he could still conjure a smile or a hearty laugh, bringing light into dark times. That humor, along with his hardworking nature and boundless care for others, leaves a legacy of love and laughter that those closest to him will never forget.
Patrick Earl Raftery touched many lives in his 54 years. His devotion to family, the joy he found in everyday moments, and the kindness that defined him stand as lasting gifts to all who had the privilege to know him. As we honor his memory, we celebrate a life lived fully, a spirit that remains present in the hearts of those he cherished, and a legacy that will continue to inspire.
He will be profoundly missed but fondly remembered always, by his beloved son Tyler, his siblings Michael John (Michelle) and Jacqueline Ann (Curt), partner Vanessa, former wife Donna, and all who were blessed to walk alongside him on his journey.
A Celebration of Life will be held to honor Patrick's memory, service details are pending. Please check back for updated service information.
