Paul W. McConnell, a cherished member of his family and community, was born on October 5, 1930, in North Woodstock, Grafton, New Hampshire. He was called home to be with the LORD on March 8, 2026, in Creve Coeur, Missouri, leaving behind a legacy of service, love, and dedication.

Paul led a distinguished career, beginning with his service to the nation. Paul honorably served in the United States Marine Corps for 9 years including during the Korean War where he embodied the values of duty and commitment. After serving in the Marine Corps Paul went on to work at Martin Marietta as a Technical Writer, where he meticulously crafted the technical manuals that were instrumental for operations in the aerospace and space technology field. His professional journey continued with an 18-year tenure at ICS, demonstrating his commitment to excellence and innovation in this field of work. In later years Paul entered into the United States Naval Reserves, serving at Fort Sill Oklahoma for 11 years, teaching electronics and related subjects to recruits.

Education was always important to Paul, after completing high school and years of formal education while honorably serving in the United States Military, pursued further knowledge through classes offered by ICS. This commitment to learning was just one reflection of his desire to grow and serve those around him.

Deeply rooted in faith, Paul was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where he wholeheartedly embraced the principles of service, including duties in the LDS Temples. He generously volunteered with the church’s food bank, ensuring that those in need received nourishment and support. Additionally, Paul officiated the Tops Club Inc. for senior adults, providing a welcoming space for companionship and exercise—a testament to his belief in the importance of community and health.

Paul is survived by his beloved family, including his children, Steven (Kate) McConnell, Michael (Judy) McConnell, Cheryl Huston (charlie), Erick (SunYoungYi) Shopher, Stephen (Amanda) Shopher, Christine (Terry) Wikoff, and Andrea Shopher & (Scott). He is also remembered affectionately by his grandchildren, Kevin, Cassandra (Johnathon), Candice (Jr.),Tim (Amanda), Tabitha (Rory), Keith, Matthew (Autumn), Chana, Crystal; and many more loving family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lorene McConnell, and his second wife, Connie (Shopher) McConnell, his daughter, Sharon Kirby, son-in-law Sam Kirby, and son-in-law Charlie Huston. Their memory lives on in the stories shared by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving Paul.

As we remember Paul W. McConnell, we celebrate a life well-lived, a man of faith who dedicated himself to serving others, both in his professional life and personal interactions. His contributions to his family and the community will continue to resonate, inspiring those who follow in his footsteps. He was dearly loved by many and will be greatly missed.
