Rebecca Loyd, born on November 1, 1933, passed away on May 12, 2026. Throughout her life, Rebecca was known for her warm heart, her love of animals, and her dedication to her family.
A passionate animal lover, Rebecca's affection for cats and dogs was well known to all who knew her. She and her husband, Ray Loyd, shared a lifelong commitment to the care and well-being of animals, which was reflected in their ownership of pet stores. They initially established their business in Wentzville, Missouri, and later continued their venture by opening a new pet store in Pompano Beach, Florida. This endeavor not only provided a livelihood but also embodied Rebecca’s deep connection to the animal world.
Rebecca also found great joy in playing golf, a pastime that brought her both relaxation and camaraderie. In addition, she enjoyed playing dominos, a game that fostered many joyful gatherings and friendly competition among family and friends.
Rebecca’s life was marked by rich relationships and cherished memories. She was preceded in death by her beloved father, Richard Morrill, and mother, Melba Morrill. She also mourned the loss of her daughter, Becky Loyd, sisters Sandy Johnson and Jean (John) Fugate, and brothers Bob Morrill and Bill Morrill. Their memories remain forever in the hearts of those who loved them.
Rebecca is survived by her devoted husband of 75 years, Ray Loyd; her loving daughter, Micki Loyd; and her son, Michael Loyd. She was also a proud grandmother to Trevor Hadley. Additionally, she is survived by her sister-in-law, Peggy Inman, her brother-in-law, Bob Johnson, along with a host of other family members and friends who hold her dearly in their thoughts and hearts.
Rebecca Loyd’s legacy is one of kindness, loyalty, and an enduring love for animals and family. She will be remembered with great respect and affection by all whose lives she touched. Her presence will be deeply missed, but the memories she created will continue to inspire and comfort those who had the privilege of knowing her.
