Richard T. Martin

Richard T. Martin, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and cherished member of his community, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2026. Born on November 28, 1942, Richard lived a life enriched by family, passion, and dedication to the simple joys that brought him fulfillment.

Throughout his life, Richard found great pleasure in gardening and reading, alongside a talent and love for building things with his own hands. These interests not only enriched his days but also reflected his patient and creative spirit, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Martin; his daughter, Cindy (Tim) Mathews; and his son, Steve (Cindy) Martin. He took immense pride in his family and cherished his role as a grandfather to Seth Mathews and Joel (Kathryn) Martin, as well as a great-grandfather to Addalyn Martin and Breyer Martin. He is also remembered by his brother-in-law, Rick Wright, and a wide circle of family members and friends who were touched by his kindness and generosity.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Hansel and Elvey Martin, his beloved grandchild, Benji Mathews, and his sister, Barbara Wright. Their memories remain a treasured part of his life story.

Richard’s memory will be lovingly honored at a series of services beginning with a visitation on April 16, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home in St. Peters, Missouri, located at 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive. This will be followed by a funeral service at the same location from 1:00 p.m. Shortly thereafter, friends and family will gather for a graveside service at Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Charles, Missouri, located at 2700 W Clay Street, from 2:00 p.m.  A luncheon will take place immediately following the graveside service and will take place at First General Baptist Church, located at 407 Riverview Ln, St. Charles, MO 63301.

As family and friends come together to celebrate Richard’s life, they honor a man whose warmth, creativity, and strength quietly shaped the world around him. His legacy of love and craftsmanship will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to share in his journey.
