Rita Couvion, born on October 13, 1949, in a world that she would soon enrich with her warmth and kindness, passed away on April 29, 2025. Her life, spanning nearly 76 remarkable years, was a testament to her love for nature, family, and the joy found in simple pleasures.
Rita was known for her profound appreciation of the outdoors, often indulging in bird watching and immersing herself in nature's beauty. Her love for life extended to a happy disposition and a playful spirit, evident in her enjoyment of a good joke and her penchant for playing bingo, particularly in her later years. Additionally, she found joy in the vibrant beauty of floral arrangements, which mirrored the brightness she brought into the lives of those around her.
She is survived by her two daughters, Kristine Couvion (Micah Schneider) and Kimberly Couvion. Rita also leaves behind three beloved sisters, Elizabeth Slenker, Margaret White, and Trudy Deering, alongside a host of other family members and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Rita was preceded in death by her father, Emmett Slenker; her mother, Augusta Slenker; her daughter, Kelly Couvion; three brothers, Clarence Slenker, Robert Slenker, and Leo Slenker; as well as her sister, Mary Ann Love. These losses remind us of the deep bonds of family that Rita upheld throughout her life.
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 29, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by a Memorial Service from 6:00 PM at the Newcomer Funeral Home in St. Peters, Missouri. The address for this gathering is 837 Mid Rivers Mall Dr, St. Peters, MO, 63376.
