Robert "Bob" Benjamin Horrell, age 76, of Saint Peters, Missouri passed away on Monday, September 9, 2024. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri on December 6, 1947 to Robertus and Lillian Horrell (nee Murrain).
Bob, a pioneer in the bass fishing industry, made significant contributions to its growth throughout the Midwest. He was the founder of Bass World Sports Tournament Association, established in 1975, and played a crucial role in organizing bass fishing tournaments that brought people together in a spirit of camaraderie and competition.
A passionate leader in the fishing community, Bob approached life with determination and an independent spirit. Like Frank Sinatra, he did it his way. His larger-than-life presence and dedication inspired all who knew him.
Bob is now reunited with his beloved wife, Ann, who passed away on September 11, 2023. Together, they shared 55 beautiful years of marriage, creating a legacy filled with love, adventure, and cherished family memories. Their love story began with a blind date in high school, blossoming into a lifelong partnership rich with shared experiences.
In addition to his family, Bob shared a special bond with his dog, Vito, bringing him immense joy. He cherished his grandchildren, the outdoors, and going to the casino. He will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Although he may be gone, his memory lives on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to share in his life. His stories, passion, and steadfast spirit will never be forgotten.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Kelly (Rick) Webert; two sons, Ryan (Erica) Horrell, Robert (Crystal) Horrell; six grandchildren, Robbie Horrell, Brad Horrell, Ashley Horrell, Sam Webert, Sophia Webert, Morgan Horrell; brother, Frank (Pam) Horrell; and a host of other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Horrell; father, Robertus Bernard Horrell; mother, Lillian Virginia Horrell; Sister, Carla (Elmer) Schenk.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm with a Memorial Service at 12:00 pm Saturday, September 21, 2024 at St. Peters Chapel, Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters, Missouri 63376.
